Yep, another idiot who thinks he can understand the meaning of life by looking into computers!
I have about ten days to go until my own business goes live. The last few months have really flown by and i have been surprised what can be achieved with a budget of less than £100 and no credit facilities. :money: I originally picked four ideas and it looks suspiously like all of them will be developed in due course. I shall begin by doing some private home tution in IT and take it from there. If I had 8 hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend 6 hours sharpening my axe0 -

My partner is a photographer and I'm his helper. We just spent a vast sum having a studio built here in Cheddar. We used to just do weddings but now we have a studio we do portrait sessions for kids, families etc. Its all quite funky, a bit venture style but without the huge price tag unfortunately for us.
We do a lot of portfolio building with fashion models and have spun on from this offering the public makeover photoshoots.
Even though Mike is a "people" photographer we have also included commercaial photography in the business, this is a very new part of the business and we need to do a lot of work on the marketing side.
Even though Mike is an award winning photographer I am stuggling to understand the marketing side to a business without it costing the earth. There are just so many photographers out there its hard to make yourself standout even if your product is great.0 -

Plus, as far as I know, the run of 100 will be done on a digital process which isn't usually quite as good quality as lithograph print processes.
Like Pete says, it's not really economical to have anything printed in really small quantities, due to the print processes involved. Once you are into a quantity of 1000 you'll find that 2000, 5000 arent all that more expensive either.
Well I run my own digital print company in partnership with a litho print company. You are correct Kilty, 100 run would be digital print but in my experience the quality is just as good if not better than litho depending on the artwork supplied.
Pete is completely correct about larger quantities working out economically but at the end of the day you got to weigh the options for what you need - very quick turnaround with short run digital or low unit cost with litho. I often print jobs first thing in the morning and have them couriered to London for lunchtime. All depends on what is wanted.Gordon Brown ate my hamster0 -

Good luck with that. I am not in this field, but try a business networking organisation such as your local Chamber of Commerce or the BNI which may prove beneficial. Have you done a launch and invited your local paper?
Good luckGordon Brown ate my hamster0 -
