  • Hi all, I've got the same problem, but even more extreme I think.
    Sorry for lengthy post, this is aimed mainly at the BT guys, who seem to be helpful!

    Been with BT for ever, on the 10GB option 1 package, and never a problem in over a year, never gone over the limit.

    Type of use is 'normal' web surfing, emails etc, hardly ever stream tv, kids game online but not all the time and mostly it is clash of the clans which doesnt seem to be a high bandwidth game, son does play Call of duty on xbox, but not excessively.

    Received an email last month saying we had used over 70 of our allowance, but I dont think we actually went over, useage seemed normal for first half of this month, but in the last two weeks we have used 130 GB, have phoned / webchatted with the BT help folk, and useage is normal some days and then up to 30Gb per day on other days.

    I have broadband meters on two ipads and the main pc, use on them is typically less than 50MB per day.

    I can't accept that we are using that sort of bandwidth, the folk in the call centres try to be helpful, but to be honest I dont think they know very much, and suggest Ive given the password to a neighbour and they are using it, neighbours all have their own broadband, most are on unlimited packages so it doesnt seem to make sense.

    The call centre guys were able to confirm that as far as they can see the use is recorded against our homehubs IP address.

    My questions...

    Can I change my homehubs password to rule out the neighbour theory?

    There does seem to be a huge number of similar complaints floating about various forums, is there issues with inacurate measurement?
    Could some kind of fault in the homehub cause it to record unusually high use?

    What kind of use can possibly soak up 30Gb in a day?

    Basically, HELP?

    but would be useful to hear from the BT rep as to the reason for all these apparent over uses
    i was considering moving my parents to BT, however I have severe reservations now having read these.

    Check your wifi is secure and change your password for something very hard to hack , you could have a leacher !

    Without revealing personal information, can you please state whether the previous issues you have helped with have been a result of BT error or consumer use and they were using these high amounts ?
