  • Many thanks to you both, I think the worse thing I did was hide but when you see no light at the end of the tunnel, not even a glimmer of hope its always easier.

    Payed today and have £200, now I usually put asside a percentage to my bills and car insurance but I will have to see what happens with the car today. I am hoping it will be approx £70 but with collection it maybe more.

    Monday (I mentioned above) is now cancelled, I will be staying in. Instead I am going out today I have gift vouchers for two shops and then I want to buy a diary so I will ask Mum if she could buy me that as my b/day gift. If not it will be £2 ish :rotfl:

    I shall report back later! Have a great Friday all :j
  • Hey PAP - good to see you back & posting! Sorry you're not having a great time at the moment.....keep at it though, things will get better!!

    Oh & Happy Birthday for Monday!!!! Hope you have a good day - it's my 40th too:eek:

  • Many thanks Brummie :D And a happy 40th birthday to you too. Birthday this year for me are over rated :rotfl: Going to spend the day at home, maybe take the dog on a huge long walk and then I have planned to cook dinner.

    So garage bill came to £54.66 :j I have kept one voucher (Next) but spent the one in Lush. I found a diary but was £9.49 :eek: all the <£5 were too small so Mum paid half and I paid half. However I payed it all on my card so £5 has gone into home (money box) savings. Also a full tank of petrol was £27.83. That leaves £108.57 and will be left in my account until next Friday

    Can honestly say when out shopping today I didn't even want anything and I found it hard to spend the full voucher in Lush. Maybe this year is the year of frugal Pap :rotfl:

    Take care all :cool2:

    Had a spare diary I could have sent you but you have bought one.
    Think our nearest Lush is in Edinburgh.

    Doh, thanks for thinking of me though Beanie :DThis is the one I got, I love it as you have a whole page per day and they are plain pages as opposed to rulled. I want to fill it with a lot of different stuff not a 'normal' diary so this will work well.

    Ohh thats far away. I like Lush but it is expensive. However a bar of there soap can last me 3months+ where as smart price only lasts about a month. I managed to get the last bottle of christmas shower gel and a bath bomb with my £5 voucher. I have enough toiletries except shampoo and pads (need to order these online soon) to last till at least May :D

    However one negative today, when my car went wrong it seems to have messed up my car radio :o I am hoping lil brother can fix it.

  • More posts, see once I come back you can't shut me up. So I have been reading countless posts/diarys on here and some blogs too and I want to take this frugal Pap seriously. So I am going to follow along on the 2013 frugal living challenge on the DFD's board.

    Now they have a £4k budget to live on but this year I am just going to stick with the same outgoings as last year minus all the junk. So adding up my bills this is my 'frugal' budget for the year:

    Rent = £2,080
    Petrol = £1,800
    Internet = £445.20
    House & Pet insurance = £397.20
    Car insurance = £1,700
    Car breakdown = £107.04
    Car tax = £148
    Car mot/repairs = £500
    Mobile = £60
    Clothes/Shoes = £100
    Toiletries/hair cuts = £40
    Pets = £20
    Gifts = £70
    Medication = £30
    Shoeboxes = £100 + £27 shipping costs
    Charity = £120.00

    Debt repayments = £1217.37 + interest

    = £8,961.81

    So working that alongside my projected yearly wage (I started earning from my new job early March) I should have approx £3k remaining to be saved :T Once I have completed this year my aim is to get this lowered each year. I can already see savings (internet, charity, car insurance) some of which I may see about this year. Can't believe I spend just as much on fuel as I do on rent, thank heavens I get a small proportion back from work.

    Let the changes begin, I hope to post each day if not every other day, sorry if I bore you!

    You could cut down the shoe boxes a wee bit?
    Love the diary :grin:
    Meant to also say might you be better paying a prepayment thingy for your prescriptions?

    Yes :j And becasue of reasons out of my control I have only 'lost' two calls over the weekend (I planned with work not having access to my car) so £6.xx rather than three calls at £9.xx.

    Shoe boxes are a no go really. I want to do six normal ones and three RL ones this year. I am hoping to get it down if I shop around and buy stuff in sales (back to school/halloween/closing down) but I spent about £60 for six this year.

    My medication is only £3 every two months however I have added my sanatiary wear in that too. Thats approx £15 every 4-6 months but they have a sale on just now so next friday if I have enough I could buy all I need for the year for £20ish.

    The things that a 'mine' are internet, mobile, clothes/shoes, toiletries, pets and medication. To be fair however I would prefer to get a chunk in savings that maybe used to purchase a newer car. Also I don't want to be living payday - payday as I have been doing this year so I want a buffer.

    After some searching I have found an internet providor that's £10 a month :T I don't know if I can switch yet or if that includes line rental. There is a £25 instalation charge but still thats over £300 saved. So thats something to sort/look into in the coming week. If I can switch that will be a huge saving :D
