Wonder if she's planning to charge you for babysitting?

If this is a real life dilemna, then why is it posted by one of MSE staff? There's no chance for anyone to see the outcome of this 'scenario' if indeed it is real life?
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
  • There is a bigger problem here than the 'billed gifts'.!
Firstly return everything your mum gave you immediately so that she can get refunds. If she can't that is her problem so don't worry about it.
Secondly take her out for a coffee and talk about her role as a mother and grandmother. !Help her to understand that you appreciate her desire to help but that you don't want her to buy things on your behalf.
Thirdly find out about local NCT sales...you will be able to buy everything you need in fantastic condition and for a fraction of the cost.
    Good luck with your mum...

This is wrong. Return the items. They are not gifts. You're an adult about to become a mum and your own mum still thinks you are a little girl who doesnt know better. Politely, but firmly, return them explaining that this is your child and you willbe making the final decisions for your baby. Just try and keep her 'on board' as you will be needing babysitting!!! But not at the cost of surrendering you and your babies independance, which in this instance, you could be paying for.
