If they tell you they need the phone back tell them the contract has nothing to do with the phone, the phone was either paid for or a gift for taking on a more expensive line rental.
This worked for me. You might need to provide proof of purchase however.
Just been on the phone to them and they are having none of it. Waiting for a manager call back - any advice on what you said to get them to agree to this?Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

What if you part paid for your handset? I paid £199 for my iPhone with a £35/mo 24mo contract. Would I get to keep it and get it unlocked or return it and get my £199 back plus void the contract?
Thanks
Edit: to add, I would want to port my number to tmobile (sim only or full contract depending if I keep the phone)0 -
Shouldn't you be able to keep the phone as it's not part of the contract? What if you part paid for your handset? I paid £199 for my iPhone with a £35/mo 24mo contract. Would I get to keep it and get it unlocked or return it and get my £199 back plus void the contract?
