3 mobile misleading customers with ''all you can eat data ''

I spoke to their customer services. They told me I'm allowed to cancel my contract and that if I provide them with proof of purchase of the phone I can keep the handset as well.
Now I just need to find another mobile phone operator that allows tethering and has generous internet usage.0 -
They are shaping traffic during peak times. Its still 'unlimited' data as there is still no cap.0

I'm cancelling my contract because I'm sick to death of these seedy, despicable, perfidious coprorations (with emphasis on the copro) violating their contracts.
I don't care if they throttle me really, but they should have made it clear when I signed the contract. Instead, throughout all of their advertising material, they actively encouraged people to try and download as much as they could.
Well, the joke's on Three now.0 -
I've joined the forum to see if I can get some help with this
I'm a fairly low data user generally. I have a broadband connection at home and I often use wifi at work. My usage always used to be under 500MB a month although I can't check recent use as I now have an unlimited plan. I downloaded a largish software update yesterday and since then I've been unable to even update the news on my Guardian app as it is timing out.
I didn't think much of it earlier but when it didn't improve (even though I have 3G and full bars of signal) I did a search and this thread came up.
I'm really worried that I've been restricted, even with my very low (I think!!) usage. As I would want to use the connection to watch iplayer at the airport or similar and obviously even that wouldn't be possible with this level of traffic restriction.
Have I been throttled or is it a coincidence?0 -

What number did you call about cancelling your contract due to the new TrafficSense terms ?
I currently have a 24 month contract on the one plan with all you can eat data which is now 13 months old.
Just to add
We’re calling it All-you-can-eat Data, and it’s not like anything you’ll see from anyone else. Unlike other data plans, there are no restrictions and no crafty`fair usage’ policies containing hidden data caps. We’re leaving behind the ‘old mobile’ world of limits and allowances in favour of a new world that gives you the freedom to use your smartphone to do everything it was designed for without the worry of cost.0 -
They cap the top 5% on a mast by mast basis
how ever if you you get capped on one mast you capped on all
Proven by my self
This results in being limited to 20 to 40 kbps 15.00 to 23.59
FOR 7 DAYS
This system will of course create a new top 5% to get capped
20 to 40 kbps means pages take 1.5 to 3 minutes to load
The pages time out a lot, and require reload, its not usable
Its not a service at this times
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuHXwNUDY4I
We have no idea what the so called limit is as it seems mega flexible
Its a daft system, some people are getting capped for using over 100 to 200GB
Some like me are getting capped for 22GB
Some got capped downloading 2.5GB
Its an insane unworkable system
Also what about the rural places where the 5% is the people who live there, the other 95% is passing traffic.
They are now cut off.
This if you read the XDA forum has actually happened!

Yup, you time out a lot.0 -

I currently have a 24 month contract on the one plan with all you can eat data which is now 13 months old.
I just phoned 333 and asked to speak to customer services. Tell them when you took the contract out there was no trafficsense nor throttling, now there is and effectively the terms of the contract have changed thus you wish to cancel the contract.
If they tell you they need the phone back tell them the contract has nothing to do with the phone, the phone was either paid for or a gift for taking on a more expensive line rental.
This worked for me. You might need to provide proof of purchase however.0 -
Can anyone confirm that they were definitely allowed to cancel due to the introduction of Traffic Sense?
I just had the most frustrating 40 mins on the phone to 333 and nothing. Very unhelpful borderline rude customer service reps.
I could do with some ammunition - if anyone can confirm that they have cancelled and under what terms.
Next step I guess I'll write to them.
This combined with the RPI monthly cost increase is a joke.0
