    Hi Phoolgirl,

There's an earlier thread on meat from lidl so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.

  • Well we got a Northern Irish Chicken form lidl and it was delicious! Did us 3 dinners a lunch and a pot of soup (2 of us). We got one from tesco the week after in the 3 for £10 offer and it was horrible and stayed really white. Def recommend lidl chicken now!

I used to sometimes buy butchers meat and some meat from the supermarket. TBH more and more I am buying butchers meat (esp locally produced stuff) and less supermarket. I am now aiming to use supermarkets less and less (for various reasons) and so will be buying my meat from the butcher. It is generally better quality, although it can be more expensive too, so I use more veg to eke it out a bit more. I have bought LIDL meat in the past- there is nothing wrong with it as such, it just does not compare with local stuff.
I have a limited food budget but would rather go back to the days of quality over quantity and always have plenty veg with the meat.

I normally buy legs of lamb from Lidl. at the moment they are £9.80.
In my local ASDA they range from £15+
  • There is no Lidl near where I live. But some of Aldi's meat is quite good in my opinion. Whenever I buy their lamb chops the oh always says where did you get these (cos they are nice) and he is very very difficult to please. There is nowhere else I can afford to buy lamb chops from.

I would be reluctant to buy meat from Aldi, Lidl etc as to me it always looks grey and of very poor quality.

I love these but I wouldn't necessarily confuse them with any recognisable meat;) .

Must be your local ones, ours looks as good as the butcher's next door [and he is good, wins awards]
