  • Ok i normally only buy 'junk' food from lidl. For some reason I am snobby about their meat. Does and have experiences, good or bad, with lidl meat? We are heading tonight so may get some just to try any way.

    Thanks.
  • bad would not buy again, was tough and tasted horrible-just dont do it!

A friend of mine has food poisoning and she's blaming it on Lidl meat. I don'tknow the ins and outs though - I always thought if it was in date (or there abouts ;) ) and cooled properly you wouldn't get food poisoning

  • I like the meat in LIDL.
they do a nice pack of frozen new zealand lamb chops in a green bag ..
    they are divine ...
always have a pack in my freezer

the fresh meat is nice as well and sometimes marked 30% off

I bought their mince once and never again. I generally don't like buying meat from supermarkets. I'd rather buy of a butcher who rears his own cattle, they tend to be as cheap if not cheaper.
  • I have only ever had the packaged hams etc and sausages and the standard has been very high and they have been very tasty.

Have never bought 'real' meat from them though.

I can concur with the above. Their Parma ham is much nicer than my local ASDA and a lot cheaper.
  • I haven't shopped in lidl for a while, but I used to and never had any problems with their meat

ETA: don't get their frozen fish though it's rank and full of bones
  • i got some chicken legs.fresh not frozen and they were very pleasant.and cheap
    onwards and upwards

Our Lidl here in France has free range chickens, which are cheaper than the free range ones in the supermarket and just as nice. The only other fresh meat I have bought occasionally is pork fillet (no happy pigs anyway here, not even in supermarket), and that has been fine too.
