Hello Ames,
I've been reading your thread for some days, following the unfolding events.
Then your latest health issues - you really are battling against too much at the moment. For your mental and physical health, stepping away from all this and recuperating is the best way.
As you have intimated, there is a bit of money which will be left in the pot at the end of all the paperwork. The cost of a solicitor won't make a big dent in that, but the peace of mind for yourself (and proof to your D and S that all is above board) will be invaluable in getting this sorted out with less conflict (hopefully).
Let the solicitor do what he/she is trained to do; be kind to yourself and concentrate on your recovery. Your late night posts show you aren't sleeping and worrying about all this. Your health is too big a price to pay!
Best wishes :A0 -
I don't know what to say either Ames. Just sending you some virtual moral support. I hope it gets resolved soon for you.
So, your mum didn't have any insurance to pay the mortgage in the event of her death?LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

Just a pity you hadn't handed this to the solicitor sooner. Anyway hopefully that side of things will now be off your plate. The person in my corner is the solicitor.
As far as I'm concerned now crap to do with the estate is nothing to do with me, and anything I hear/receive about it will be handed to the solicitor.
Correct Ames YOUR health should be your No1 priority. So let the professionals take good care of you and hopefully you will be back to your old self in the not too distant future.I need to concentrate on my more immediate problems.0 -
That's perfectly possible. We've just taken out a repayment mortgage, and have only managed to get life insurance for DH, not me.So, your mum didn't have any insurance to pay the mortgage in the event of her death?
Our earlier mortgages were endowment mortgages. They had many disadvantages, but at least you were insured!!!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
No she didn't have insurance. Why struggle to pay for something she wouldn't benefit from. Besides, she thought she'd live a lot longer than 52.
Thanks for all the support everyone.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Oh dear Ames! I didn't realise she was so young! Yes, indeed, one would hope to live a lot longer. I'm sorry.LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

Well I texted sister this evening to say I was in and could be phoned, (I'd told dad last night that I would). She rang back to say they're both full of cold and don't really have the energy to talk to me - my text had woken her up.
So the sympathy and support for me has run out already.
I've been asleep for most of today thanks to the CFS, I'm shattered after the last few days. I did force myself to eat tonight though. To go from binge comfort eating to not wanting to eat anythig at all has been a bit of a shock, even after forcing a bit down I feel sick.
Anyway I'm off to bed now, earlier than the last few nights. Hopefully I can sleep because I've got a busy day tomorrow - meds review and sorting out stuff for the solicitor.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Well, I'm now angry (or would be if I hadn't just taken a beta blocker which is making everything a bit distant).
I had a good day at the hospital, including a session on how to get the most out of services. I found out about all kinds of things that I had no idea were out there. One's a gym in a different mental hospital. Now, given that I've been asking for help with weight loss for ages, even asking if there was any gym on prescription scheme, I'm annoyed that no-one's mentioned this to me.
What I'm angry about though is that you have to be at crisis point to find out about all these different avenues of help. Maybe, just maybe, if we could access these things we wouldn't get to crisis point in the first place....
Anyway, I got home and sister called. She was going on about stuff to do with mum's estate (not even a 'how are you?' first). I said not to worry - this morning I signed the solicitors letter and sent ID and all the paperwork.
Predictably, she went mad. I pointed out that as I'm spending as many hours as I can each day in the mental hospital and didn't really want to have to deal with all this. She said that proves that I'm mentally incapable of making big decisions. Like engaging a solicitor.
So apparantly I've left her no choice but to be added as administrator, and as soon as she gets that done she'll get the solicitor changed and I'll have to pay all the fees incurred up to then. I just hung up.
Is it wrong that I wish I could be a fly on the wall when she gets laughed out of every solicitors' office that she goes to to try and make that happen?
It'll make it interesting if they turn up to a review at the hospital... I spoke to my key worker today about how they're one of my biggest problems and that I'd like them to come and then the experts can try and get through to them about my problems. I feel sorry for the staff, they wont know what's hit them. Although I doubt dad and sister will agree to come over for that anyway.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
You sound like you've got the measure of your sister now! I'd like to be a fly on that wall too :T How sad when families think more about money than each other.
Hope you are back to 100% very soon.

Good luck Ames x0
