Help-I have accidently transferred £1000

It's not as easy as that. There is only one phone number and the complaints department is by mail only. The guy who spoke to me gave me his name and extension number. I will give it till the morning and if nothing I will be phoning. I can't understand why money has to take this long to be transferred. I can transfer online money from one bank account to another and it's over in a couple of mins. Why 4 days ?
Get on the phone now.
Ask for a manager immediately, if they cannot or will not help, ask for their manager. Take names and contact details, refer to the person by name so they know you have identified them.
They know that if it goes to a formal complaint they do not want to have fingers pointed at them as being part of the problem - it makes them far more helpful.
Every time you get someone who doesn't resolve it for you or sticks to the usual mantra, tell them it isn't satisfactory - "this has been going on for weeks now, enough is enough - please get your manager on the phone".
You'll eventually reach someone who can make something happen.
Be beligerent. Do NOT take no for answer. If you're promised a call back, ask for a time. If that call doesn't come, speak with the person who promised it.
Let them know that you are serious and this MUST be resolved - now.
As for this four days malarkey - tell them you want an immediate payment into your account. You want sight of this money by close of play today.
It CAN be done.
Good luck.0 -
They are only open Mon-Friday. The guy that is dealing with this has left me his name and extension number so at least I have that. What I don't understand is why they are delaying this. Why did it go so fast from my Halifax account into a closed account ? Very depressing.0

Good luck Hubb, I've now written to my MP about mine and I can't see me ever getting it back.

Have you written to them?
I would write a letter setting out the problem and all your conversations since.
Give them 7 days in which to return the money or you will be taking the matter further to the financial ombudsman.0 -
I haven't written but I will now. If I owed them £1000 for over a month, you can bet they would charge me massive interest fees.
Perhaps they think they have the right to keep this money because of my error ?0 -

Just a thought.. they said 4 days.. but it's Saturday today. Maybe you will get it on Monday

I will wait and see but if not, I will be phoning and demanding action.0

Perhaps an email to Guardian Money or any other choice of consumer news pages would be an idea. This is the kind of problem they sort out every week, and this one sounds like an interesting story and a cautionary tale.
Good luck - keep badgering and you will get there.0 -

They sure would, and they'd also charge you a whole lot of standard fees, on top of the interest rates on the actual overdraft.
However - -- and I haven't read the whole thread, just the title "Help! I have accidentally transferred £1,000" suggests you c*cked up majorly to start with - - - - are you sure you have any claim on anyone else's wrongdoing?0
