Checked again this morning and still nothing there :-(0

I phoned Capital One and they said it seems to be still in my old account. The person on the phone told me he will raise it with another colleague who has more know in this area and get it sent on a fast transfer but again, I checked this morning and nothing has gone into my Halifax account !0

Another day has gone and it still hasn't gone into my account. This is twice they have told me they have made a transfer.0

Ok a pain in the rear all this but at least the money did not into someone else's account other than yours. Give them another call and check status again and get them to check the sort code and account no. it would be assigned to.
Good luck!0 -
Don't panic you Will get the money back. 4 working days (if you don't count the 30th) should see the money back in your account by the 7th. Unfortunately there's 2 bank holidays Monday Tuesday. At least they found it. That's usually the hard bit!0

Well, here we are again a week later (the 7th) and it still hasn't been returned. They said in the last phone call that it should be in overnight. Sod's law that it was easily transferd from my bank account to a closed down account but on 2 attempts they fail to send it back to a working bank account.
I have lost faith in getting it back now :-(0 -
Feeling your pain, hubb. I transferred £4k from my Santander account to my husband's old Natwest account - on which he owes more than £5k. Just got it back yesterday; it was the longest 2 weeks of my life. Call Capital One and escalate your complaint - you will get your money back.0

Speak to a manager and make a formal complaint.0

I would complain as well. It is your fault the funds were sent, however once Capital One have been made aware of the error they have a responsibility to refund in a timely manner. In my opinion they are holding onto these funds without any good reason. They might levy a charge for refunding the money, which they are entitled to do, however in this case I would say that this should be waived.
Ring them again and ask to be put through to their complaints department, give them all the details including details of all the previous conversations you have had with them. Make sure you get a complaint reference number from them as well, which means it has been formally logged onto their system. You will be surprised how quickly you will get your money back. To be honest they could have returned it by “faster payment” same day which have cost them a matter of a few pence to send. They should easily be able to check the bank details of where the money came from and send it back to these without any problem.0 -
I phoned for a 3rd time this evening and had to go through the whole tedious routine again. The guy on the other end spoke in such a foreign accent I just could hardly understand him. He said something about me faxing details to my bank and something else I didn't understand. At this point I mentioned making a formal complaint (as I was just reading the above post while on the phone) and he told me he will get a manager to ring me within 24 hours. he also said he couldn't find my account as it didn't exist (I told him this at the beginning) The last 2 people I spoke to managed to find the money.
I really think they are trying to keep this money and there is nothing I can do. It's exasperating.0
