Their website says you have to write to them http://www.capitalone.co.uk/support/contact-us.jsf

But saynoto0870.com has the following numbers listed for the complaints departments: 0844 481 2812 or 0115 843 3792. Don't know how up-to-date they are though!

Just to be safe I have asked Halifax to contact them and file a payment in error to them as they told me in the beginning they would do that if Capital One were not compliment. Capital One have had 2 weeks to do this and with 3 phone calls I have lost faith in their ability/integrity. Hopefully this will concentrate their minds a bit more.

They phoned me and said that because my Capital One account is no longer active they can only authorize payment if they hear from Halifax. They did ask me security questions from my 2003 account and I remembered them so he said it may go through without Halifax having to do anything. To be fair he was polite and helpful and will phone me Tuesday to update me.

I accidentally sent almost £1000 to HMRC for NIC instead of to my credit card- phoned HMRC straight away and now 7 weeks later am still waiting for its return despite being assured all the time it is being sent back.

I am furious at myself for being in too much of a hurry to check and then double check where I was sending it.

Same here Soolin. My backside is black and blue from all the self kicking. While they are piddling around with money that isn't theirs, I am losing the monthly interest I could be earning in my Santander savings account. Oh wait a minute...... you mean to tell me Santander are unstable....AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH !!!!!!

I do feel your pain. I'd rather they were honest with me and had said from the outset that they would faff around and ignore me for weeks, instead of keep reassuring me that sending it back was a really simple and quick process.

I am a bit despondent about it now :(

Because he said he had just put it through and will phone me back Tues ( tomorrow) to update. I can't tell over the phone that he is bluffing or not until time has passed and the amount hasn't gone through. Because my account is no longer active they say it isn't as easy to transfer without an official fax or instruction from the Halifax which is in process. What more can I do ?
