I agree,but I still feel for those in society who do not have your skills,and are led into savings and investments by target seeking staff.Surely it is incumbent upon all savers to take a little responsibility for their own actions or do their own research? The fact that the small print invariably points out the fact that "the products available are limited" to the institution in question would seem sufficient for most people who can be bothered reading it/who know how banks work. Caveat emptor and all that.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I would like to pose a moral dilemma ,someones grey haired Daddy comes into to your branch with his life's savings,whilst you have a very good deal ,because you post on this site you know of a better one ,would you still persuade him to take your offer thereby meeting your branch target.
OK supposing you do suggest a competitors product and he stands up and shout 'That bunch of cowboys, they charged me £x, I'd never buy a product from them' and storms off..What do you tell your colleagues??
AFAIK I've never been able to buy ASDA beans in Tesco's, same goes for bank products.......0 -

Sorry Kenshaz - you didn't stipulate what you are to do? You know there is a better product out there so do you:
a)tell the customer of the product
b)'sell' them you best alternative
Surely the unethical part is pushing ANY product on a vulnerable client So why mention knowing of an alternative product if it's irrelevant on the point you were making??0 -

Ok, so a single parent bringing up 6 kids on not the best wage in the world and you want them to risk their job so Joe millionaire get an extra 0.1% on their savings??

I can't think of the last time i went to burger king to be told mcdonalds cheeseburger is only 99p. Or a double glazing seller telling me to use anglican. Or a checkout operator telling me asda beans are cheaper.

Been with the BoS for 25 years and there were no issues when I only had a basic current account.
Recently, I've opened an HBoS ISA, Websaver account, IASA and Regular Saver account, and HBoS managed to screw up some part of the process with every single one of them.
Losing documents, failing to transfer funds, etc.
I did get an apology and some compensation from their Head Office, but I came close to moving all my accounts (and those of my partner) to another bank several times, due to their utter and complete incompetence.0 -

Your grey haired daddy comes into a branch to open an isa, you know of barclays 6.5% tax beater what do you do??
Not the:
Your grey haired daddy comes into a branch to deposit a cheque but you aggressivly sell them a GEB...
Think we both agree, aggressive, target driven 'sales' (which let face it they are) should be no-nos
