That's a little unfair, when the real problem is the badly-designed poll.

I think it started out as a Halifax-bashing thread that backfired because people weren't able to say whether Halifax were good or bad, just whether they were the 'worst of all banks'. That's well-nigh impossible unless you've had an account with every bank going, which is what I think Mark was saying.

It turns out that some think Halifax are good, some bad but hardly anyone thinks they're the worst!

Some do and if I was them I would take heed, and Ted Bloke summed the situation up very eloquently.
My advice to them is employ Ted Bloke as an adviser, because they do so much navel gazing that they are unaware of how they make customers feel.

This is a typical thread for kenshaz, one bad experience for you doesn't make them all. I am talking from a consumer point of view

I vote yes but only recently - I think they are a victim of their own success i.e. too many customers to quickly

They've been round for years, so I don't understand the too many customer too quickly part

Building Society originally, and many do still call them a BS, although not, as they are a PLC, HBOS Plc

Largest mortgage lender and savings provider, so I don't understand the too quickly part

Sorry regularsaver1 - let me clarify. I mean too many customers recently (in the last 1-2 years). Halifax's "Who gives you extra" campaign was way too successful... Great for marketing dept but bad for customer services

70% of moneysavers disagree with you on that point. I hope you are not going to go to the trouble of putting up a poll, then ignore the outcome, kenshaz.

i work for HBOS and have had a mixture of good and bad service both as a customer and an employee. As with most big companies it can really depend on who you get at the end of a phone/face-to-face in branch.

The one thing i would say is that they are aware that customer service has been a problem and it is something they are working on, using genuine customers to carry out surveys and report back on what is important to them.

As someone who works for them it can be difficult depending on the customer's expectations - some expect the moon on a stick and get very frustrated when you can't provide it for them, but most customers just want general good & consistent service - which they are trying to achieve.
