- I recommend using Google Chrome instead.
- Automatic log-on is the default setting if I recall correctly.
- You need to Activate.
- Microsoft Security Essentials.

video and sound now working in firefox
your audio driver worked but not the video one, i used the gigabyte one (from tanglefoot) id used before.....
but internet explorer keeps asking me to install adobe flash 11.2 even though i selected yes?
not getting a request for administrator password on start up, although im sure i did set up an account on install?
when windows loads it keeps asking me "windows genuine adavantage" WGA notification....how do i get rid of this?
can you also recommend free anti virus/firewall software as windows keeps telling me i have none installed (comp at risk etc etc)
thanks for all the help!!
Perhaps you haven't actually installed Adobe Flash to IE. There is usually a yellow bar towards the top of the browser that you need to use to confirm the installation.
If you installed the OS from boot and used the correct product key, your licence should be valid, so you can install the WGA Update. You have simply used your existing licence in conjunction with a NEC/Packard Bell XP recovery disc.
You can try Avast 7 or MSE as suggested.0 -

Ok i got google chrome now aswell, and youtube runs fine on that aswell, i dont want to use IE anyway so i wont bother with flash until i really have to, but im sure it is installed as how else does the video play in firefox or chrome?
got the password working when i login now
installed WGA update, all went fine
windows firewall is switched on so do i really need another firewall program liek "zone alarm" etc?
i downloaded microsoft security essential as tangle foot suggested but didnt realise it is also anti virus......which is better avast or security essentials, as i shouldnt have both really should i?
i ran a scan with secutiry essentials and it came back clear. Should i delete and get avast, as i always thought microsoft products were rubbish? lol
Again i'd like to thank you all for helping me so much and be patient and taking the time to find drivers for me etc, big big thanks guys.....i'd have been lost with out!0 -
It's a matter of choice. Run with MSE for now as it's already installed. Don't bother with Zone Alarm.
You can use the MVPS HOSTS file(recommended) to block many of the dodgy websites.
How much RAM is installed?0 -

I should have written Servers.
Just Banners, Advertisements, Trackers etc
Take a look through the link, it will inform you.You can use a HOSTS file to block ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and even most hijackers.
No need to weigh the machine down with unnecessary software.0 -
FYI, flash player has a different version for IE than for the other browsers, and also 32- or 64-bit versions dependant on your OS...see here:-

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
