From memory, as it's a long time since I had to do this on XP.....
Right click a blank area of the desktop. Click Properties. Click settings. The slider will (probably) be at 640x480 or 800x600. Slide it to the right to either 1024x768 or 1280x1024.
If it won't allow you to change it, then you need to find out the make/model of the graphics card and download the latest drivers from the vendors site.
Make and model?
Thanks, that didnt work, how do i find out the make and model of the graphics card please?0 -
you'll also have to download flashplayer, shockwave, etc. for videos and the like to play properly, anti-virus, a proper browser (like Opera or firefox), all available from filehippo
http://www.filehippo.com/
Thanks i downloaded firefox already
I was going to go with avast as teh free anti virus? Unless there are better options now?
Will download flashplayer and shockwave
Any idea's on getting the speakers to work please? I guess i have to downloaded the correct driver for the soundcard?0 -

Will take a while, but that will update your icons and display as well as applying all the security updates.
That will sort your problem out.
Thanks
Didn't see "windows update" i only saw "automatic update" presumed this was the same thing but i set it for 7pm (which has just passed) and it doesn't appear to have started?0 -

Hi, if you go to START, then go to Control Panel, then display, as stated before, make sure you are running 1024 x 768, then make sure that you are running in 32bit not 16 bit.
hthCopy from one, it’s plagiarism; copy from two, it’s research.0 -
