I should really use the time to do some matched betting. Trouble is that I am tired and I don't like doing MB when tired because the chance of making a costly mistake increases and I cannot afford to take that risk.
May simply surf the boards for a while and drink lots of coffee!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hypno - Sorry to hear your work was let down - but I'm sure knowing what I have read about you - you will find something just as productive to do. If not surfing the boards and drinking coffee sounds just fab!
(p.s. doing well with Birthday challenge - will update thread later but about £20 off my target :j )0 -
Decided on the "surfing the boards and drinking coffee option", although in my meagre defence I have done some washing and the dishwasher, have parents evening at the high school tonight and clients this evening, so I am not wasting the day (completely!).
Good news about the birthday challenge BAUK. My DD is 13 on Monday - I will be glad when it actually arrives because ever since about February she has been doing a "number of days until my birthday" countdown!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi Hypno
I'm disturbed to see from your sig I'm in a race against you  you have paid off four times as much debt this year
But never mind, I have a dastardly plan. Who do you think it was that got your invigilating cancelled this morning? Next step, up to Norwich and sever the internet connection to stop you matched betting.
But I suppose I did say 35k by Christmas, so you're on (gulp)
Happy birthday to DD on Monday. What are you giving/doing for her? My DDs are 13 in, um, 39 days. I'd love to give them a really special day but it will have to be a DFW one or I'll never make it to 35k in time. DD1 has already proposed doing a carboot sale the following weekend to sell any unwanted presents. That's my girl!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
:rotfl: Seaxwyn! I was so tempted by the amendment to your signature - £35000 by Christmas would do me nicely, but this last month or so will have seen my debt certainly stay static, never mind reducing, so I need the challenge - the Olympic Challenge was fab but that has ended, and I am running out of things to ebay, have no energy for a car boot, no brain left to matched bet having used it all up writing scripts, and my student lodger goes home at the end of the month and the new one doesn't arrive until September so no income from them for the summer! (pause for breath, hypno, pause for breath...)
Plus, your contracts are worth more than mine! So I think we have a fair challenge!!
But, if it was you that cancelled my mobile phone confiscating session today, I will be very

Ooh, forgot to answer the DD birthday question!!
I took her clothes shopping last weekend, armed with £30, she did some savvy shopping and came away with quite a few outfits, which she needed anyway because she has had a growth spurt and her trousers are about to become pedal pushers! She also has a pink camelback (one of those rucksack things you drink out of) for when she is skiing. We don't do parties anymore, instead she has a treat, which (I am almost ashamed to admit) this year I am taking her to see Girls Aloud as they are playing near here in August. And she gets to choose birthday dinner. Amazingly she has chosen Fray Bentos Steak & Kidney Pie, and Aunt Bessies Batter Chips !!!!! (all my OS home cooking, and cheap pasta is obviously taking its toll on the poor girl!!).Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Funnily enough my two had Camelbacks last year as we had a cycling craze at the time.
A £30 clothes shopping spree would go down very well, I might copy you there. They have just got brave enough to make independent trips to the enormous shopping centre in beautiful Croydon, a short train ride from here, so some of my hard-earned cash to blow there would make them very happy
They definitely want a party as well though. They've asked for a barbeque here which isn't too bad except all their friends have different dietary requirements.
Anyway - once they're 13 we can send them out to work. I might volunteer to 'help' them with their paper-rounds on the same basis as they 'helped' me with my Yellow Pages - ie for a decent cut of the takings.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
DD has her name down for a paper round, and if she doesn't get one, then I will be putting her to work in a local sweat shop. She is now getting too big for the chimney work - shame, because it has been quite lucrative in the pastSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes.
