Good morning from a very very wet Norfolk! There seems to be no let up in the rain, but I just hope that it stops by Sunday because it is my turn to take the kids skiing (knew there had to be a trade off for my relaxing weekend just gone!).....
Getting a bit worried because there are more bits on the news today about bank charge cases - seems that 15% are now being awarded in favour of the bank for one reason or another. My case has now been adjourned until the end of August by which time they will probably be throwing out more!
If anyone from Barclays is reading this, please be nice to me and settle in full out of court.....and the chances of that happening are.....
Oh well, got to stay positive. Need to do some matched betting today otherwise the snowball will be going the wrong way - OH got his HSBC CC statement in this week and last month paid for petrol and car tax on it, meaning that after this month's payment, the total has still increased  I know that this will also have happened on another CC so need to get moving otherwise I will have the embarressment of having to increase my debt total this month. Simply cannot be allowed to happen - Seaxwyn have you been sabotaging things for me again.......the things some people will do to get a victory

Hi Hypno
Grrrr to hearing about bank charges - all I want is a letter offering me the refund (as promised) and nothing  Like you, I don't want to go to Court over this but looks like that's the way I'm heading.
Hope your day gets better and I will send you some positive vibes over - you have done amazingly well - hope you don't get too downhearted.
As for the shameful admission re girls aloud - me too  been there, done that and not for my DD :rotfl:0 -
Hypno,
On the no student lodger over the summer front, have you considered hosting a foreign student? If there are any language schools near you they are always desperate for more hosts over the summer.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -
I promise it wasn't me that jinxed your credit cards. If I had any influence at Barclays I'd tell them to give you your charges in full - but only after I have hit the 35k mark of course.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

HI Hypno - sorry to hear about the CC balances, but I'm sure you'll get it sorted
My mum had the foreign language students over the summer for a few years - it was quite good money for what it was and interesting for me too. Also she signed up at he theatres for lodgings for the actors - sometimes long, sometimes short stay - that might be worth it too?

Hello all and thanks for dropping by.
Re the students - the one we have each year is foreign and is here from September to the end of June, so it is really nice as a family thing to have those two summer months to ourselves - although we do really miss the money.
Foreign students are ok, but sometimes hard work - last night for example my student asked me what two words meant "accuracy" and "precision" and then got into an argument with me because he refused to accept that they both meant the same thing!
I even presented him with my big fat Oxford English Thesaurus which confirmed what I had said but he said that they could not possibly mean the same!!!!!
So, July and August is Family Time in the hypno household, without having to always be polite, without having to check with someone else that what you are cooking meets with their approval, but also without £120 a week. But as the advert says......."time with your family - priceless".

Hypno - that's why the actors are good - out a lot, prepare their own food and quiet!!
But I fully understand why you would want some time alone as a family!CCCS DMP:Feb 07

Hi Hypno,
July & August might mean only making minimum payments towards the debts, but as you say, having 2 months proper family time is something that money can't buy, so enjoy! You've paid off so much already this year that I think you're probably due a bit of a breather - and you'll have all the money from the invigilating coming in too!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Forgot to say, had a very inspiring DFW moment today.
I went into town to buy a fathers day present for OH from the kids. Couldn't afford it though, then had a flash of inspiration! For his birthday, my mum bought OH an HMV voucher which he has not got around to spending. So armed with said voucher I went and bought him a CD......and me a CD, or two.....:oSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Ok, so I am about to set myself a challenge.........
I don't smoke, rarely drink, don't gamble (but do matched betting) but what I do do is eat chocolate, and lots and lots of it.
I am an emotional eater and can eat carrier bags of the stuff, not enjoying any of it then feeling even more crap afterwards. It is a problem that has been addressed in the past and I generally have my head together in connection with this.
However, since Christmas, there have been too many "Dad" moments - anniversary of Dad's death, his birthday, scattering his ashes, etc and as a result the chocolate has been my friend, and also my enemy. I have put on a stone in weight since Christmas, having successfully losing 2 stone in the second half of last year.
For the last two days I have not had any chocolate, and I see this as very positive. HOWEVER, it is Father's Day on Sunday, so I see another "Dad" day looming.
I am worried that this will become a routine - put weight on in the first half of the year when all the "Dad" days happen, then be in control in the second half of the year. Also, I spend a fortune on chocolate, as others would do on fags or booze.
So I am on a personal chocolate mission - every day that I am chocolate free, I will put an amount yet to be decided straight off my egg card, as you can make online payments easily.
This will then be a DFW and FFW challenge, and I figure if I can get beyond Father's day, then I will be doing ok.
I am really just writing this down so that I know what I am committing myself to and why. I will add something to my signature just to remind me of how well (or otherwise) I am doing.
Wish me luck......:EasterBunSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
