Hi Mel, and thanks for posting on my diary. Getting a grip on finances is not easy, but with the help and support from the fab people on here I am making more progress than ever before. Still have some way to go to be debt free, but I will get there, and hopefully I have a good balance with the children etc which makes life rich in other ways.

Keep on lurking/posting etc - you will get loads of support here.

  • morning hypno - you shouldn't say your kids will never reach the olympics :)

I've been lucky enough to go to the last 2 olympics and commonwealth games following my gf's brother, and we're working out how we can get to china next year. My gf's family went through some very skint times when they were growing up.

Sounds like you're doing all the right things!

    Morning all,

I have just opened my water bill to be greeted with the very unusual news that Anglian Water are decreasing my monthly payments by £2!

OK, so it is only £2 which is not going to make a huge difference in the bigger scheme of things but it is so unusual for the utility companies to reduce monthly payments without being prompted in my experience.

A busy day today, invigilating at the school this morning, off to the recording studio this afternoon, get the kids to karate at 5 and then clients this evening.

Better make another cup of coffee now then while I still have the chance!!

  • Good Morning hypno

Well-done on such a productive bit of 'you' time at the weekend. It sounds as if it gave your batteries a bit of extra charge. Not that you need that of course, even reading your schedule for today has made me feel tired:eek:. I think that's one of the major reasons your lovely children are prepared to put the effort in to achieve success....they've a perfect example from their Mum every single day:beer:

Really pleased(not to say gobsmacked) to hear of your good news from Anglian Water. We are with them so I'm looking forward to the next envelope from them rather than dreading it:rolleyes:. Probably it isn't a widespread cut, I expect we won't get it, but I can dream even if it's only £2 saved :T
  • That reminds me, it's that time of the month for me (bills!) - I'll keep an eye out for any AW cuts; nothing in this morning's post though.

    HI Hypno

Something must be going on in utility-land as I've just had a similar letter from my electricity company - they've cut my monthly payment by £16!! Hoorah!

Hope all goes well in your busy day.

Makes my £2 rather pathetic really!! But yesterday Orange, who we have our broadband with volunteered to reduce my payment by £3 a month, so without trying we will be reducing our bills by a fiver a month - hopefully my gas and electric will follow suit soon!
