pleased to see everyone is doing well with the housework - we're having quite a productive weekend here too - partly thanks to the awful weather here today - glad we don't have to go out anywhere - we're currently catching up on admin, OH is sorting computer CDs and I'm going to move onto ironing and a DVD soon. Friday night I had a tidy up in the living room which looks good now and yesterday we made a start on the office which is our nightmare room which was good (for example getting rid of receipts from nearly 2 years ago
) no children or pets so not much excuse for the mess really.
Have promised OH the office will be cracked by Christmas - we're going to Ikea on Wednesday and will get some more furniture for the office with the merger payment OH got from the Portman so that's good.
Last night went out for a friend's birthday and in true MSE style I drank tap water most the evening (1 soft drink) and OH and I shared a starter - still felt bad spending what we did but it was a good night and we don't go out very often - luckily our freezer is quite well stocked atm so we'll eat from that a bit this week

I have done the animals, the kitchen and bathroom now, have stopped for a lunch break (extended) and am about to tackle the living room and bedroom. If you don't see me within 12 hours please contact the authorities i've probably been abducted by something hiding in the bedroom!0

Good for you YL for having a DFW night out! You can't stay in all the time, and on the rare occasions that you do go out you should be able to treat yourself a bit! (even if it does mean eating rice and stock cubes for the rest of the month!).
Housework here is still going well - I have finished the kitchen to an acceptable standard and am working on the bedroom. Just stopping for a coffee break but will finish the bedroom off before I do anything else, otherwise it will be a half finished job and will soon be back where it started. I won't even consider starting the cupboards and drawers in the bedroom yet - will save that for whenever I do that room properly in the challenge!
Still not started "work" or college assignment....still, the day is young! Hope everyone else is having a good day xxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

OK Lounge it is... that will be quite a task. I'm not going to think about it tonight though.
DD3 & DS's bedroom is getting a tidy too. We even went to IKEA today to buy some storage boxes as they have nowhere to keep their stuff. They enjoyed their outing to the temple of consumerism and were amazingly good about not asking for stuff.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
you have trained them well to not ask for stuff Seaxwyn.
Why oh why do i let my bedroom get so bad? I know it's a case that generally no one sees it so it all gets dumped in there but this is rediculous. Flame thrower time i think.0 -
I am not allowed in Ikea.......
Anyway, my bedroom actually looks like a bedroom now!! Can't believe it is the same room. I nipped out to Next about 10 mins before closing to get a bedside light - mine "died" about a year ago, and I have had a torch next to the bed instead :rotfl:
So, to celebrate my tidiness I bought a cheap but nice lamp. Could only afford the one for my side of the bed.......OH is close enough to the main light switch to do for the moment, although I will aim to get another lamp before they change stock!
I was sorely tempted by some lovely bedding there, but I was good, and only took £20 cash with me and no other way of paying so I could not get carried away with money I don't have! Perhaps I can ask Santa for it
So, I have done a bonus room :j Kitchen looks ok, bedroom and en-suite look fab.........lounge next week and I will celebrate a tidy lounge next weekend with some fresh flowers.....:D
DD has put away about 3 things in her room.......only another 41387 to go
DS has been using his homework as an excuse all day - isn't it funny that if he asks to go out to play with his mates, he tells me that he doesn't have any homework, but when I am in a tidying mood, and ask for his help in his room, he suddenly produces 3 bits of work that need to be in first thing tomorrow :rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Wel;l the kitchen is finished, all clean and sparkly ready for the dog/OH to dirty again! Washing rescued from DS before it got too soggy...... and bonus Bathroom cleaned while DS had his afternoon nap
Next challenge.... the lounge from hell!

Going to sit down DH and work out our plan of attack this evening, but he's made a really good start while I was at work - he tidied up all the toys and general crap that were lying around in the lounge, put the mountain of washing away, and (although not part of the challenge, but needed done) washed the car with a SPONGE! So he deserves double points for not going to the car wash!
Hypno, I bet you'll sleep so well tonight in your lovely new bedroom. I always love going to bed when ours is spotlessly tidy, but it's far from it at the moment...0 -
I will definitely be joining you on the housework challenge, my 2nd baby is due on Boxing Day which is 5 weeks on Wednesday, so there's double reason why I need a clean house by xmas.
I don't just want it to be clean on the surface, I want everything sparkling, tidy and smelling lovely:j Bankrupt 6th October 2009 :j:beer: To a Debt-free Future :beer:0
