£125 to clean a nozzle is absolutely disgusting! How on earth can they justify that amount? On the basis that you posted at 1pm, so they'd had the car for a maximum of 5 hours (assuming dropped off at 8am) did they really spend that entire 5 hours on your car (figured £25 an hour probably a reasonable rate!)

My MOT last week needed loads done - labour was only £110 for new brake pads, brake something elses, new tyre fitted, hand brake adjusted, various nozzles cleaned, trim tidied up, lights adjusted - and he twiddled with my clutch for free as he hated driving it!

I know you want to be calm and serene for later, but I think you may need to argue with the garage on this one!

Hi Hypno...what a shame about the halifax...there must be something you can do about it...I don't know what yet!!!....would it be an idea to phone experian /equifax to ask their advice as it really is something that needs removing and I guess that both of these would know how to have it removed!!!...as it's totally unfair...good luck with sorting it as I know you are a very determined person....
On the other hand I'm glad you've got loads of clients coming in as that helps...

   to Halifax. I hate them, I shouldn't write that, but I do. They made a series of unbelievable mistakes during my last dealings with them - so much so that when I came to remortgage with the Nationwide 2.5 years ago, I negotiated that I didn't pay their exit fee (hence cannot reclaim it as Martin suggests, but thats another story).... sorry you've got this going on. It seems really unfair that your rates of interest are so high, when you work so hard at the repayments.

One thing I do when on the phone with people from firms who've really messed me around is go what I call "middle class snotty". As you know, I've from Liverpool, and a pretty working class area of Liverpool at that, tho you'd never know it now. So I can do snotty really well. And having an education up to postgraduate, I can do the middle class version really well: its an attitude that says, I'm angry, I refuse to be taken advantage of, don't try to treat me like an imbecile or you will be really, really sorry.

I did a written version to the police years ago when I was stopped in the street by a police probationer for crossing between two cars rather than go to the traffic lights 10 yards away - and the upshot was that a chief inspector came round to my house to apologise and invite me on a tour of the police station! It really works, but you have to psych yourself up to it. Just say it .... middle class snotty.......... middle class snotty........:rotfl:

Thanks GTD, I hope you have a good day too.

I also have to get my house tidy, top to toe, by the weekend - our new, income producing, student arrives on Sunday, and at the moment she is almost certain to take one look at the place and walk away!!

I must have a housework blitz, whereas at the moment it looks as though it has been in the blitz. Oh what fun I have ahead of me!!

Hypno when you have yours sorted out do you want to come and help me with mine! :rotfl:

yes, they are looking into the arrangement with the hope it can be removed.

No - hope is not good enough. Make a complaint under the Data Protection act. The information provided to the Halifax was inaccurate and somebody has failed to correct it. Who has failed to correct it depends on who informed who of what - but that's not your problem - that's the Information Commisioner's problem.

Can you remember the first time you went for a low % card and were rejected? For providing the inaccurate information, they are liable to pay you the difference between the interest rate you have, and the interest rate you would have been charged.

Yes, OH was rejected for a M&S low LOB card in January (this is a joint loan with Halifax so affects us both) and was rejected for a current account (no overdraft applied for even!) at the same time. Since then I have been rejected for 0% or low LOB 3 further times, and spoke to the woman at experian who simply said try again in 6 months!!

I will take it further with Halifax, I have just had about enough of them

Last night I finished seeing clients at 10pm so was pretty much shattered, but with a nice wad of cash in my hand. Today will be similar, my first client at 9.30 though so an earlier start, and need to get the children to the ski club before that.

I can't believe that August has almost come to an end - my new budgets will be starting at the weekend and we will hopefully start to make some inroads to the debt again :D
