Thanks GTD, I hope you have a good day too.
I also have to get my house tidy, top to toe, by the weekend - our new, income producing, student arrives on Sunday, and at the moment she is almost certain to take one look at the place and walk away!!
I must have a housework blitz, whereas at the moment it looks as though it has been in the blitz. Oh what fun I have ahead of me!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Morning hypno,
Just thought I'd pop in and say hi :hello: hope you have a good day, although it does sound VERY busy as usual
Good luck with the car, hope it isn't much, but then why didn't you like the extra pretty light on your dash? :rotfl: we had this happen a couple of weeks ago, being the typical woman,I told the garage i liked the pretty flashing light, but as they pointed out the fact it said STOP should mean something surely? :rotfl: wasn't too expensive,a faulty sensor as usual, what gets me is,the actual part of the engine is never faulty, just the sensor that works out if it is,if the car didn't have sensors, you would wait until the part went wrong and it would be cheaper, bring back the old cars with proper engines
Have a good day hypno :A

Hi LIH, I hope you have had a good holiday - those weight loss stats are looking pretty fabulous!
TBH, I would leave the light as it is - it doesn't come on all the time, and we went to Peterborough and back at the weekend without it making an appearance, so it can't be that badBut you know what men are like - have to get it seen asap, so after months of me avoiding the issue of the pretty orange light, OH booked it in and told me I had to take it.
Hopefully it won't be expensive - but even if it is cheap to fix, it will sadly be going on the Egg card. Bloody thing :mad:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

I have had quite a good holiday,a few days out here and there, went to Bewilderwood the other day, absolutely BRILLIANT!! we really enjoyed ourselves,I went back to being about 5 years old and think I enjoyed it more than the kids
We are having a few easy days this week, trying to catch up on sleep ready for next week, got to get the uniforms sorted, all bought, but need name tapes and washing etc
Can't wait to get the house back in order when they go back to school, but I have to say, this has been the best summer holiday ever, even with the dismal weather
My weight loss has slowed right up and i have actually had 2 gains in 2 weeks,1lb then 0.5lb no idea why, only thing it can be are the increase in Codeine, which slows the body up,I haven't cheated, but I feel cheated for all the effort,I am so close to goal,I can almost touch it,but now it's slipping away
I won't give up though
Don't beat yourself up about putting the car bill on the Egg card, needs must! you need your car,so it needs fixing

GRRRR just had a frustrating hour on the phone - I rang the MBNA number they gave when I applied for the 0% credit card because they wanted to "discuss" my application. Well, there was no discussion really - they just said no! So I asked why, and they said that on my credit file is an arrangement for a personal loan I have with Halifax, implying that I cannot afford the credit I already have and have reached a payment arrangement.
Now, this is a long standing saga, but bear with me......
In May 2006, I switched bank accounts from Halifax to Barclays. They do all the transfer of standing orders and direct debits etc. 2 payments, for 2 loans, Halifax, and Tesco, were missed that month, and I got a letter from each saying so. Immediately on receipt of each letter, I telephoned, explained, and paid by debit card.
Tesco did not mark my file as late or anything and I even got a letter from them saying that because it was obviously a pure admin error that could be proved by the fact that a new DD mandate was signed, that was the end of the matter.
Halifax, though, in their infinite wisdom, have slapped the word "arrangement" on my file. I have tried over the phone to get this sorted before, without any luck, they just sympathise that it seems a little harsh, so a few weeks ago I wrote and complained, but got no response.
So today I have taken it to the next level - this is not fun any more - I always pay on time, I make overpayments where possible, I am not behind on anything and yet I cannot get a current account or a balance transfer credit card because of this "arrangement". I am completely fed up with it - I could understand if I was behind with payments or had made arrangements to pay less, but I am not!!
This is why I sometimes wonder why I don't just go on a DMP and release some of the financial pressure - I am doing everything I can to snowball, quite successfully, and yet I am in the same "category" creditfile wise as those with defaults (not that I am criticising those with defaults etc at all, please do not think that, hope I am not offending anyone x).
Just fed up of the whole bloody thing. Now I have to wait for the "investigation department" to get back to me in 5-7 working days. Great!
Sorry, rant over. Off to put the kettle on xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
hey hypno well i started off reading this page wanting to give you big hugs as i can totally relate to the feelings you were having now i want to give you a big hug and a cheer you seem to find that strength from somewhere dont you i know halifax wont stand a chance lol...your doing really good at the matched betting malarky i see your profits looking good and the snowball date has fairly moved since you joined youve shave not a kick in the butt away from two years off of it so far not bad going0

Thanks El, I am just so fed up of not being able to move forward - my APRs are all in the 20s, with some at 26.9%, and all I want to do is to get a low LOB or 0% card to shift some of it over, but we can't do so because our credit file is officially "poor".
Like I say, I wouldn't mind if we really are/were behind, but we aren't and I am fed up of playing now! It just seems as though the proverbial brick wall that I am banging my head against is just being built with even harder bricks, and as a result my head hurts!
What worries me long term is not that it takes me longer to clear my debt, because I will be debt free in 2010 which I am ok about, and on target for - any earlier is simply a bonus, but I am worried that if my file is unnecessarily blighted, then when I do want to move house, or want to open a new bank account etc, that I will be rejected for ever more, or treated as sub prime, when I have made all of this effort to stay on top of things.

Sorry to hear about the car, and MBNA/Halifax aren't helping either. I do think it used to be easier when you could go to a branch and sort things out in person, or at least speak to the same person all the time. These centralised call centres just seem to make things worse.
When you look at your figures you know you're doing everything right. It's just that at times unexpected blips happen, and you've had a few too many at once recently!!
Hope you manage to get this Halifax thing sorted, it sounds like it's something you've got to thrash out, despite them having a useless customer services system. There must be some sort of appeal system for them putting unwarranted things on your history, especially as it's costing you money in having to pay more for credit etc. Maybe one of the other bits of the forum can help.
Is there any chance of the family helping with the housecleaning blitz, especially as I assume your neck is still not OK.
Hope things improve, and that your new student is nice.0
