    Hi Hypno,

So is it the investigations dept at Halifax - looking into removing the 'arrangement'?

How much is left on the Halifax loan - could this become your next target (even if it's not the highest APR one)? Just thinking that if this was cleared off then the 'arrangement' would show as settled, immediately improving your credit score.

As ever, you're a pure inspiration to me though - how you find the time and energy to do quite so much money saving is amazing - and I'm still in awe of anyone who can understand matched betting!

yes, they are looking into the arrangement with the hope it can be removed. Sadly the loan is 12000 so not an easy target to go for - it will be one of the last we target because of penalties and the like for early repayment.

Also, I have to admit that I don't include it on my debts that I am aiming to clear here. Because our debt accumulated from the "house from hell" that we had to rebuild, when we sold it we didn't clear all the outstanding mortgage and debt so brought it with us. We then rented for a year to get our heads straight before we bought another house.

When we bought another house, we obviously didn't have a deposit because we had all the "carried forward" debt from the old house, so had to borrow the deposit by way of a loan, which once we moved in, became secured on the property.

So we have 2 house loans - the mortgage, and the one for the deposit, both used for buying the house, and which for all intents and purposes tend to think of as if we had got a 100% mortgage at the time.

Confusing!! Sorry! The debt that I am clearing for DFW purposes is everything unsecured. Once that is gone, in 2010, then I will be tackling the rest. BIG TIME!!

  • awww hypno, what a bummer! if you don't get a result with the halifax keep going higher - maybe a letter to the chief exec explaining that it was their fault and that you are playing by the rules. sometimes works...

by the way, do you drive a saab?

Well, they have called to say my car is done - they couldn't really work out what the problem is so have cleaned a nozzle or something and it will cost me £125!!!!!

I have told them that I was flabbergasted at that, especially as they couldn't tell what the problem was, and that £125 to clean a nozzle is a bit steep. However, I will pay it, and hope that the light doesn't come on again.

Right - have to take a deep breath, because I need to be calm, confidence inspiring, and emotionally steady for the rest of the day/evening. Work calls!!

Hi hypno, sorry the car is so expensive, not Thurlow Nunn was it? we had a Frontera a while back, the light on the dash was down to the 'idle throttle valve' i think that was what it was called, they tried to charge a ridiculous amount for just cleaning it,I didn't realise my friends hubbie is a mechanic there and he told her they basically just blew the muck out of it,I complained and they bought the cost down fom £110 to just £20,result! I wouldn't pay that amount for no reason, ask for a breakdown of costs,oh,and a guarantee their 'nozzle clean' will fix the light ;)

Hi Hypno, I've just had a similar problem with my car, also a Vauxhall.

Mine was the orange engine management light.
