tell us more ZTD? Would love to know that recipie.(sp?)

    xx

Hardly a recipe - if I can do it, it must be easy...

First, select a container - I use the 1 litre yoghurt containers out of Lidl - but you can use anything provided you can cover it.

Sterilise it - I use water "fresh" out of the kettle.

    Sterlise a spoon too.

Pour 1 litre of UHT milk in - about 35p at Asda.

Stir in 1 tablespon of live yoghurt - again I use a pot of lidl's stuff.

Put it somewhere warm for 8-24 hours (depending on how set you want it). Stick in in the fridge after that.

You can pour the liquid off, or stir it in for a "drinking yoghurt" kind of consitency.

I eat it as is - but of course you can put flavourings in.

You can also add a tablespoon of dried milk if you want it thicker.

Thanks Z, that is a fab idea - will wait until DS comes home from school then he can get involved in making it.

We have loads of frozen apples and berries of various sorts (strawberries, blackcurrants, deadly nightshade.......) so these can be added as well. Also, I expect honey would make a greek yoghurt type thing so that could be tried too.

    Loving this idea, thank you!

Gosh you lot have short memories - it was blazing away in April, remember? Hottest April for 140 years I seem to remember reading.

Hypno, I eventually changed my DS from packed lunches to school dinners as he was forever bewailing the absence of cheesy string and 'real fruit winders'.

But my DD3 makes a virtue of her DFW packed lunches. She and her friends hold regular 'crazy lunch days' to see whose mother has made the most bizarre concoction and Im proud to say my DD always wins!

DS has been on school dinners before, and would be happy to go back on them but I just couldn't afford them sadly!

But loving the "crazy packup" contest. I am sure we could be a contender. DS has taken leftovers of last nights Bacon & Mushroom Pasta thing that we had for dinner (his choice to take it for lunch, not mine!).

Real fruit winders should be Real Fruit Windups in my opinion, although I do know of some who count them in their 5 a day

Going off now to watch him in a basketball tournament, then to drop both of them at the cinema to see Shrek.

Have written one letter for OH to claim back charges - only 8 charges so not much, but anything will be welcomed. It is all ready for him to sign and post.

It has to be unbelievably simple - I do it.

Of course you can see how hard your children are - drain off the liquid and get them to drink it. Depending on your culture, it is often unbelievably sour... :D

Incidently, this yogurt is live and can be used to start off your next batch. Or indeed replace your "probiotic" supplements.

Have you got somewhere warm to put it?

The warmer it is, the quicker it takes. Though obviously too hot kills them - but that no longer counts as "warm".
