  • Chris - im doing exactly the same - tomorrow is day one!! eek! x

    welcome falldown
great name by the way :D hope you have been reading some of the encouraging posts from those newly on their journey, you'll be on good company and hopefully can support each other

its not a s scary as it seems , thats what nicotine wants you to believe " why bother cos you will only want me " YOU can do perfectly fine without for sure

plan strategies for coping , maybe .... change routine slightly if at all possible so you dont associate x and y with fag time
drink pleanty of water , take fruit to work , many have sucked on ice poles to help with that "need a fix moment"
keeep busy and occupied, go for a walk brush teeth, have a bath ( though not all at once ;) )

those cravings are short lived and with each passing one feel empowered that you are getting old nic beaten once and for all

    wish you well

  • hi amanda and welcome

7 weeks is fantastic you are doing so well

think yourself the lucky one that you no longer "dip in " at social occasions and can be in control 24/7 , is it really choice to have the odd one ?? I'd say its old nic with a hold whatever way you look at it

Re avoiding social occasions i would say after 7 weeeks you would be seeing so many possitives , healthier , more money in your pocket , feeling free from the chains old nic had on you , better skin , smelling fine , better teeth, fresh breath, more time to do what YOU want to do , not have to carry fag baggage about , not have to worry where or when you can have your fix, not have to stand out in the rain to feed your habbit .......

am sure theres loads more you can come up with

YOU are in control , you can stay focused on all the possitives and be confident you wont give in to a "just have one " and if your friends are true they would support you and be proud of you too for stopping
if in serious doubt you may give in try a low dose patch , but I am sure you will be fine

Get back out there and stnad proud for being a none smoker :T:T:T:T

    JD xx

    hi JD,

Thank You so much for your message. I totally get what you are saying. I feel so much better in myself and my health. My purse is also alot happier lol.

What are your views on E-cigs, maybe just for social occasions? I have stopped so far by going cold turkey, just woke up one day and ripped up my cigs lol.

The last four months have been disgusting because we knew the truth. We could tell how tired and grey and old and uptight and breathless and smelly we were. We felt like drug addicts. There really is nothing good about smoking at all. It's just a very addictive poison.

Bess has hit the nail on the head - this is the reason we quit, because we feel like this.

Welcome to all the newcomers whether they have days under their belt or days to go before stopping. Don't be frightened, the world is the same whether you smoke or not. You just reap the benefits as a non-smoker which include that which money just cannot buy - time.

    Good luck to everyone.

Morning guys - day 5 too

It is hard at times and then as easy as pie at others! Bess I find the evenings just boring with too much time on my hands. So have found a combination of exercise, meeting with friends, going for walks and reading are helpful. I keep kidding myself that I am actually going to clean the house :rotfl: But seriously I know a lot of people have found this helpful.

Chris you can do this, so you bought some. What about giving yourself another 2 or 3 and then throwing them away? I find I have to have a couple and stop as I find it too hard first thing. Monday at 12.30pm I extinguished my last one. You can do it I promise you, and you will feel so good. I agree cold turkey is the best method but depending on what's going on you might need a little support for a few days, weeks or months. Whatever helps!

Ok better get off and do what I'm actually paid for...
