Hi bess1234 and a very warm welcome to the thread and yes, of course you can join us! Well done on getting back onto the road to good health and saving. So, what means are you stopping by? No doubt you know the score as you've gone so far before, but how far did you get to and do you know the reason that made you go back??
Whatever it was, if it happens this time round please come here for help and we'll do the very best we can to support you through. Well done on not getting pulled into the snacking!
Very best wishes to you both!
Sue xmandz1 wrote:Hi all, i havent actually posted on this thread, but i did on previous thread, just though i would catch up with you all.
According to silkquit, this is how my not smoking looks:-
Not smoked for:-
Four months, two weeks, four days, 12 hours, 14 minutes and 8 seconds.
2248 cigarettes not smoked,
saving £741.89.
Life saved: 1 week, 19 hours, 20 minutes.
I havent really seen the money as that has gone on clearing the debt and days outs during the summer holidays etc.
I spent the first six weeks of quitting on patches and nothing since then.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone and all the newbies that are quitting, it took me many attempts before i finally quit but i havent looked back.
The only downside to me quitting was the extra weight i have put on, but as soon as my boys are at school, this will be my next accomplisment i hope to achieve.
Good luck to everyone who is just quitting, you can do it!
Hiya mandz! I'm so glad you found us from the old thread, it's really good to see you here - and especially to see you stopped smoking ALL that time ago!!!! :T:T:T:T
You're doing wonderfully well and I'm truly chuffed to bits for you - and just look at those stats!!!!!! You've certainly done a lot with the money saved. I'm sure you'll soon shift the weight, especially if you look upon that as an accomplishment as you've done with the cigs.
Very well done indeed, mandz! Please keep us updated.

Fantastic work, determined! Things will slowly start to get a little easier for you, but saying tata to the fags will give you a real lift!
You too, Fergie, you're going great guns - except on the chocolate!!! Do try and slow it down or you'll need to move house!
Thanks for sorting out the coffee business, Money maker, a really wonderful help.
Terrific news, gettingready! Looking forward to hearing from you as soon you're ready!
Just like you, JD, I'm chuffed to bits with the upbeat posts! They make such satisfying reading. :grinheart
Many thank, girls, for the lovely wishes, I'm hoping things will soon get sorted.
We're ending with cheesytwists words and very wise they are too. Please take not, folk, as it's all so true.
"To any lurkers/still thinking....if I can do it, you can, I never thought I would ever get this far. 4 weeks....thats immense, only a few days and that makes a month. WOWSERS and thx to everyone for support you give. I was just like everyone else....scared.............but you have to try to find out that its not really scarey, tough yes, but one ciggie at a time is not scarey. Go on everyone...I dare you to give it a go:D:D"
Go for it everyone!

Here's something funny, actually giving up smoking is making my life easier at the moment. It's giving me something to hold on to, to say "I can do THIS!" giving me some pride in myself, despite everything. Weirdly it seems now is the best time to give up.DF as at 30/12/16

Hi Bess and welcome....well done so far.
Just checking in to give determined her morning shower call
Hi everyone else...
Still ok today and yes I will try and lay off the choccy. I don't really even like it usually but I suppose I can actually taste it now.
Thanks for the coffee advice and I will deal with that much later I think :rotfl:
Good luck today everyone.
Sue glad to hear from you...are you ok now? Big hugs and love xx0 -
Hi all
It's awesome to read how well you're all doing i I don't often get a chance to post but I just wanted to pop in to say well done to everyone who is managing despite other stuff going on in their lives :T
I haven't fancied a ciggie for days. I'm feeling much better in myself and am enjoying exercising far more as I haven't got the niggling thought at the back of my head of 'what's the point of this while I'm still poisoning myself with cigs?'
Well done everyone

ahhh congrats p_grrl! Are you running? I think I'm going to have my first run of about 2 weeks tonight. My knee was dodgy after my last run so I have left it. I have some supports so going to go for it tonight.
Welcome bess1234. What method are you using? My oh has given up as well (how is yours doing fergie?) but he is one of those annoying social smokers and its no big deal to him which is both :j and . Was trying to get him to have a patch this morning!:rotfl:
How funny we are all so excited and self congratulatory about our respective quits :T and rightly so!DF as at 30/12/16

Not very well really determined.
He is only buying 10 a day and smoking less but shows no sign of fully quitting yet. I think he is kidding himself really that he is not such a big smoker so it isn't a problem but to be honest I'm just concentrating on myself for now. Selfish that may be but I need to get through my own quit before I can prod him into his.
Take care xx0 -

Hi p_grrl
You are doing fantastic. When I first came on here I read your post at 11 days quit and was so jealous that you had made it that far. I never thought I would get that far but I am nearly there! :j
I've ordered the book from the library and picking it up at weekend so looking forward to that.
Also looking forward to seeing my CN tomorrow. It's like going to your weekly weight-watchers meeting when you know you have been good all week :rotfl:
Take care all xx0 -

Hi determined and how lovely to read your very positive post. Could your feelings perhaps be because it's something YOU are in control of d'you think??
Whatever the reason you should be immensely proud of stopping anyway, everything else too; you have no reason not to be. Chin up and onward ye go!
Your oh...now is he lucky or not? A social smoker means that even if they do stop they can easily be drawn back into it - and for how long?!
Sue xSue glad to hear from you...are you ok now? Big hugs and love xx
I see you're still doing remarkably well, Fergie, and almost a full week now!! Fantastic!
No, I'm not ok yet, Fergie, thanks a lot. I'm still waiting for the results of the 2nd lot of blood tests to come back. I thought I'd have heard by now as it's a week ago today they were taken, but nothing when we rang yesterday. Ah well, fingers crossed. DH wondered if it might be Condroitin/Glucosamine supplementary pills or Cod Liver Oil or both that we bought from a different supplier that might be causing it, so I left them off a few days ago and here's hoping!
BTW, just read your last post and NO you are NOT selfish with the way you're looking at your OH's quitting! It's vital you concentrate on you right now.
He's smoking a lot less than he was and by watching you he may well soon stop anyway. For now let him be and I'm sure you'll quite possibly urge him on, but if I were you I'd say no more about him stopping. Who's the wisest right now eh?:T:T

It's also awesome to read how well you're all doing prophecy_grrl!! :T:T You really are doing so very well so be so very proud of yourself. Thanks also for letting us know how much better you're feeling and exercising as it's one of the greatest benefits to you as well as in not puffing anymore!
Stay strong, p_grrl!
Sue x
Here's to another wonderfully successful day for ALL.

Oh Sue take care and hope the results give you the answer to make you better.
That's the thing with potential allergies etc it's a process of elimination isn't it? Every time I went with mine I had to go through the whole routine of 'no, I haven't changed the washing powder' etc until I found the cause of it.
Take care lovey and hope you are well soon xx0 -
I bought my perfume and I smell gorgeous. I might ask people in the street if they want a sniff I smell so good. And I got it very :money: but can't believe I've been waiting since Xmas to justify spending the money, and it's one weeks smoking money:o
1st attempt at stopping in twenty years was last year and we managed six months. The book is mind blowing. So cold turkey with half a gum for emergency temptation. With anything allowed as long as we didn't smoke so several bucketfuls of wine and our own body' w eight in chocolate later...:rotfl:
We only wanted one...just one :eek:FOOL:eek:
The last four months have been disgusting because we knew the truth. We could tell how tired and grey and old and uptight and breathless and smelly we were. We felt like drug addicts. There really is nothing good about smoking at all. It's just a very addictive poison.
And this time feels different. I know it's not as hard as I thought it would be, but it is annoying for a helluva lot longer. And I feel in control more, I have a non smoking habit I can slip into like my sparkly oxygenated skin! I don't expect to give in today. Stick with it , it really is fantastic on the other side, and I will remember not to be a :eek:FOOL:eek: this time
Wanna sniff:rotfl: gorgeous0
