On a similar subject my neighbours are annoying me as well. Every year for the first week in November they set off loads of fireworks. It is really inconsiderate as they make loud noises and irritate me. I would have a quiet word but they are very awkward by doing this sort of thing.

Plus don't get me started about december, they erect this huge tree in the garden and then cover the house with lights. It looks very garish and brings down the tone of the area

Is there anything I can do to stop this happening?

    Two questions

1 - Why would anyone put up a Union Flag to support England? 1a - What's wrong with the cross of St.George?

2 - What happens when the wind changes direction?
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

I would be irritated too if I was OP, I have no problems if my neighbour wants to put up a flag, but if it was actually positioned in my garden, I would be very annoyed.

OP, could you re-locate the feeders and see if that works? I know you shouldn't have to, but if a word with neighbour is not going to work then that's the only thing you can do really. Sometimes you've got to grit your teeth and be the "bigger" person about these things.

Don't know measurements or heights so don't know if this would work but could you add trellis to your fence to stop the flag blowing into your garden?

The flag would still flap in the wind though so although it would stop it coming over into your garden, it might still scare the birds anyway.

I's sneak out in the dark and very gently peel the tape away on one side so it falls off into your garden where he finds it the next day. :)

Could you politely ask him to move it and explain the reason?

To be honest if not then you have little you can do.

Thanks for your support. Many of the people on this thread seem to think it is a huge joke, and are being sarcastic or holier than thou when they have no idea of the problem with this neighbour.

Unfortunately we can't move the feeders. They are on brackets screwed into the brickwork.

But - it has been raining and the flag has gone awfully limp. I am praying for continual rain now.

A good idea, but unfortunately not possible. My other neighbour (who is lovely and also thinks the guy with the flag is a pain in the proverbial) has offered to put their cat on the car port, cos it would rip the flag to pieces!
