Neighbour's Problem Flag

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do about this.
My neighbours house is at 90 degrees to mine, as it is round the corner. His car port is parallel to my back garden fence. This morning he put up a huge union jack, by attaching the pole with duct tape to the upright for the car port, which abuts my fence. The result is that we now have a huge union jack flying 6ft above our fence and over our garden, and the position means that it doesn't fly over his car port at all. This is disturbing the birds at our feeders, which is dreadful as this is the breeding season.
The irony is that the position of the flag and pole means that he can't even see it unless he is in his driveway!
I'm as patriotic as the next, but if I wanted a union jack flying over my garden I would put one up. But I would make sure it didn't affect my neighbours.
The man in question is an awkward so and so, therefore it would be no use having a quiet word with him.
Is there anything else I can do.

Once the birds get used to it - it may be ok.
You could just wait till England get knocked out in the early stages."if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170 -
I assume its for the Jubille celebrations? They'll be over in about 3 weeks. If the flag is still up in a month and causing problems then maybe have a word but you'll look like a bad seed if you start complaining straight away! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Also you say he is "awkward" however it is you that is complaining about the countrys flag being flown at a time of national celebration. I would argue you were the one being awkward! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I really am not being awkward. I am concerned for the birds that come to our garden. This huge flag flapping about over our garden (not his) is stopping them coming to our feeders.
Believe me, when it comes to awkward, no-one comes close to my neighbour!0 -
do you need bird feeders this time of year? I know you need them in winter when food is scarce but is not food plentiful for birds at this time of year? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Do you not think there are more worrying things going on in the world at the moment?
If it is worrying you so much I would ask the neighbour, in a polite way, if it was possible to move the flag to a different position.
He can either say yes or nah0 -

I wish I hadn't bothered to post the question. I am being judged by people who don't know me or my neighbour. I asked a simple question, and I am being slated.
I thought this was supposed to be a helpful forum. Not a nasty, judgemental one.
And yes, it is important to continue feeding birds at this time of year!
Kelpie, aren't there more important things going on in this world for you to worry about, other than to criticise people you don't know?
Tina - thanks for your support.0 -

I like the fact you say this is not meant to be a "nasty" forum and yet the only comment you like is the pretty nasty comment about anyone who puts up a flag! Seems a bit ridiculous! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
