TOTALCARE taking DD without instruction

Thanks to all the posts about this scam.
Just noticed £2.99 has been coming off our account since 2012. Was Total Care and we only noticed as they have just changed name to Intouch Investments. We have cancelled DD and bank refunding us.
Shocked about this. (we did have a Tiny computer years ago.)

Four years?!!!! I can't believe anybody wouldn't check their bank statements every month. Mine's checked on an almost daily basis.

I wouldn't necessarily notice a £2.99 line in my monthly bank statement, so there's no need to lambaste the poster about this.

That said, I do periodically check my list of DDs and SOs for anything unexpected.

We do check our bank statements, but £2.99 did not jump out we thought it was something we had arranged for support of an appliance. Joint account, we each thought the other person had set this up. It was only when the name changed that we realised it was a scam.
