TOTALCARE taking DD without instruction

I have had the same £2.99 taken this morning. Until I goggled it I did not know the company and as many other had a computer from Tiny 7 years ago.
FYI If you see the DD on your bank account that day they can recall it as long it is before the end of the working day and also ask the bank to cancel the DD. Under the DD guarantee you can claim the money back from the bank. This can take up to 6 weeks. You can claim saying that you never signed a DD agreement with this company.
If you want to speak to Total Care and Support the number I have been given that is on my DD is 01282 681 000
People think I am crazy checking my bank account every day but this proves that it is a good thing.0 -
Wow! It’s a frightening thought that they can reopen a DD several years later, especially if one did actually cancel it with their bank, and it is difficult to see how this could have been done in error. Something needs to be done about them!
I made the mistake of purchasing a Tiny computer around 12 years ago and had a few issues. I wasn’t the only one to discover their support service was shockingly appalling, as exposed on BBC Watchdog. Luckily, after some initial resistance, I managed to return the complete package as “not fit for purpose” and get a full refund.
Last I heard, they were taken over by Time around 10 years ago.0 -
I bought a "Tiny" pc some years ago...great deal at the time...worked well. Have just discovered 2 debits from Total Care and support for £2.99...am chasing it.
some numbers...
0870 1201771 (Caroline) she's getting very cross about calls and denies all knowledge...but signposts to the 0845 number below.
0870 120 1770...number to cancel DD...not being answered
0845 1213359...rings out to same tone as above...no answers.Wow! hi all, just had the exact same happen to me today, £2.99 taken from my bank from totalcare and support. I to purchased a Tiny computer and had their care package about 8 years ago. I did cancell because it was crap to be blunt! with in weeks of purchasing. My bank has cancelled the direct debit and refunded my money straight away today which was really good. How can this company reinstate DD,s that have been cancelled so many years earlyer?, surely ther is something criminal going on here? how many more people have they done this to?!0

thanks for all the replys. it does seem their just hitting ppl with £2.99 and seeing how many they can get away with.
i did finally get my refund, 15 days after they took it so i rekon it was at least a week after i rang and complianed.
interestingly the refund wasnt from the TOTALCARE & SUPPOR but from INTOUCH INVESTMENT REFUNDS.0 -
This is why you should cancel any old DD instructions on your accounts.
I ensure ALL my direct debits are cancelled via internet banking. But some companies will try to re-instate direct debits (without permission). Tiscali did this to me once but I spotted this before they managed to take any money. They got a piece of my mind and never tried it on again!0 -
it has just happened to me 2.99 direct debit. i had nothing off tiny i cancelled after 3days thats 10 yrs ago. i rang these people and they said there was a error on the computer. and the money would be put back into my bank. still waiting cant ring them again because it cost me another 3.50 phonecall. but if they can do this i think its fraud
they shouldnt be aloud to take money out of your bank account. whats this money for wish i had seen this before i rang them . i too keep logging into my bank account see if theres anymore been taken out . if they can do it once whats going to happen next time. how do we stop them0 -

i've just noticed this dd was set up on my bank account yesterday. I too had a computer from Tiny several years ago. Fortunately I've managed to cancel it before they took any money.0
