TOTALCARE taking DD without instruction

checked my semi-dorment bank account online today, (only use it for amazon and ebay).

noticed a DD for £2.99 from TOTALCARE & SUPPOR. i googled that and found it belonged to a company called Totalcare. i racked my brains and, as i no longer use the account, couldnt think of what it was.

i rang them and was told Totalcare have taked over Tiny Computers and, as i had a care package with them previously, the "DD had started up again in error". i had the care package with them in 2004 and it was for 7.99.

i asked how this could have happened and didnt get a answer, just it was a "error". i asked where the £2.99 figure came from, again no real answer. i was told id get a full refund in the next 3-4 days.

now i wonder how many other people have been affected??

seems a scam to me.........

Did anyone else read the title and think the OP was complaining about a kidnapper? :o

I have also had £2.99 taken from my account.

I had trouble with Tiny Computers about 10 years ago and thought I had seen the last of them !!

I spoke to the company who took the direct debit (Total Care) and they said I would receive a repayment in 72 hours - That was over 100 hours ago and I have still not had the refund. I am currently trying to get through to them (11 mins on hold at present)

Cant beleive they can jus t take the money like that, my bank didnt seem too bothered !!!

Direct debits can be reclaimed from your bank, under the terms of the direct debit guarantee. That might be easier, and in the process they will ensure that the DD is cancelled.
  • i just noticed i have had x2 payments of £2.99 taken from my account in the last 2 months without my consent.
Payment taken by Totalcare & Suppor
ALSO i had a laptop from Tiny about 7-10 years ago!!
How on earth can they do this?? surely this is as good as walking upto me in the street and stealing from my wallet!!??
Has anybody had any successful refunds back from these thieves?

    thanks,
    Dave.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Just make a claim with the bank under the Direct Debit Guarantee, the bank probably couldn't be bothered as it's a small amount and it costs them to try and reclaim the money back from the company.

This is why you should cancel any old DD instructions on your accounts.
  • I have been hit by these guys for 2.99. I also had a lap top with Tiny over 7 years ago but I cancelled my policy within 30 days which at the time they ignored and I had bother with them trying to keep the policy active. This company needs to be taken down a few pegs. Where do they get off using my details which they obviously kept and start taking my money. I have Internet banking and was able to spot this quickly and I did cancel this DD years ago - they reopened it! There surely should be some criminal charges here "lets just take a few quid off some of these folk and see how much we can get away with". I spoke to my bank and alerted them immediately and they will refund with 48 hours. However Total(scam artists) care are refusing to answer their phones. Martin we need advice- legally where do we stand? What can we do to make sure this company cannot do this to people?

I have had the same problem and as I work for a bank I am very careful and cancel any old DD's. This company is setting them back up under another name making it look like a new request.
