I have now contacted BBC Radio 4 the money programme (as suggested by Wary) and BBC Watchdog - but as a new user, I'm not allowed to post links to make it easy for people to do the same... Please google them and get in touch. If we make a fuss with the media, they might get the company shut down (or at least refund everyone they've stolen from!)
  • Found out today they have been taking £2.99 a month for 14 months from my account. I'd noticed the DD and thought it was Currys. Only realised today that it wasn't when checking credit card statement and saw currys was on there rather than bank account. I googled and found a phone number. First man I spoke to asked my postcode then told me my name and immediately said he would put me through to the refund department (without me even asking for a refund)
Then the man in the so called refund department denied all knowledge. Said it was nothing to do with them at all. So I phoned my bank and claimed it back through the direct debit guarantee.
  • £50.52 taken from account lady gave me the phone number and ref number phoned them and guess what engaged tone every time I phoned bank is looking into it

I have had the same problem! Discovered they have been taking 2.99 sine August 2012. I spoke to the above number and they know about this. It is because I purchased a Tiny computer many years ago. They have cancelled my DD (Bank have also done the same) and are refunding all money from that time (could take unto 30 days) . I will wait and see! Will post again when I see it in my bank! :(
  • tried through my bank to stop these direct debits, but they keep re appearing. So far In Total Care and Support have taken out 7 years of direct debits ranging from £2.99 to £9.99 all stemming from the purchase of a tiny computer some 10 years ago. Bank Fraud squad now involved so lets wait and see.

The Payments Council should withdraw their authority to use the DD system.
  • I just noticed being DD'd since at least Jan 2012 also 2.99 per month. On to it now and am assured by bank this should be refunded in full soon. Thanks for the thread!!
  • I have just recently discovered they have been taking money from my account for over 3 yrs without my knowledge. I have challenged them and they obviously think I am a complete idiot as they just fob me off with lies. Like most of you I had a dealings with this company in the past and they would not keep up their end of the deal so I cancelled my DD but they started it again without my knowledge. I cancelled again and gave them , and my bank a few choice words. This was back in 2004/5. They started it again in 2012 and because of my lack of care and attention with money I only recently discovered it. I have sought advice but it seems nobody wants to know. My old bank (Yorkshire ) are taking no responsibility and CAB aren't much help. This is theft but they are getting away with it. If the boot was on the other foot Ithings would be different

If the DD is taken annually or 6-monthly then it can be easy to overlook them - especially if you have quite a few DDs setup.
