lowest price only shows if you are actualy the lowest pirce for that sub-condition.

ie. If you have listed as very good it will not take into account copies in other sub conditions, such as acceptable, good or like new.

Also checking your prices using open listings isn't a very good method. If you have the time to go into listings to compare you should take into account, condition, location and feedback of other copies listed as well as descriptions given.

Okay thanks for that, i didn't think about the sub- condition priceing, I will have to consider that when checking the prices next time.

Even after reading the first page on this I'm still confused!!!!

Thinking of both buying books and selling them on amazon.

Does the price listed include postage when buying?

    Thanks in advance
  • Hi jenny - when you are buying Amazon add £2.75 for p&p. If you are buying from Marketplace sellers you can't take advantage of the free delivery offer by spending £15, this is only when you buy from Amazon themselves

Hi please can someone advise me - just had an email to say I'd sold a book through Amazon - just logged into my seller account and noticed that the book is listed as hardcover, whereas my copy is softback:eek: . The ISBNs match - what is the best thing to do? I'll e-mail the buyer and let them know but should I send the book out before I get a reply (I very rarely get replies to my emails through Amazon). Heellp!!

Email and tell them the details, offering refund or discount, then let them decide. I had this issue, and I even got good feedback from someone who i refunded to cos i didn't have the exact book i had listed.

Thanks tsharp - what should I do if the buyer doesn't respond to email - how long should I wait before sending the book out? (concerned about the two business day dispatch).

hopefully someone at the address you sent to will forward it to him, If not you'll have to hope they return to sender, otherwise it will sit in a delivery office for 3 weeks whilst you wonder if you did put a return address on it or not! Though whether the buyer will be happy with the delay? Just cross your fingers and hope you sold to one of the good guys, and can arrange forwarding to save you any additional expense.

    Hi Cat,

you could write to the seller as you have their address - send it first class. Or have you tried using the name and address to see if you can get a number to phone them? You could try Amazon Customer Services for advice but am not sure how they would view it as strictly speaking you were not selling what it said in the listing.

However, I noticed on the amazon sellers board that some folk were concerned that descriptions were being altered after they had listed so its a bit of a grey area. I know I had a paperback that Amazon had showing as a hardback [different ISBNs so an Amazon mistake, I even checked with the publisher's website] and I emailed a correction and it was changed a few days later so I added my book..... but I guess some folk who listed could have done so via author/title rather than ISBN so their lisitng might then be for an 'incorrect' edition.

Difficult one really - was it a high value sale? If not and you are worried and can't contact the buyer you could refund, then relist having written to them by snailmail inviting them to repurchase if they still want the book.

    Hope it works out

  • Amazon send me my payments automatically every fortnight, and I have to say that this fortnight's payment was the least I have had in nearly 3 years of trading.

Amazon seems to be unusually slow, and added to my own lack of effort in finding new stock or repricing, it's almost ground to a halt.

My sales on Play are now greater than on Amazon, I did my bulk upload of about 1500 listings on Play on Sunday and sold 2 books Monday (1 pending cancelled out), 3 books Tuesday and 1 books so far today.

At least it's helping shift my stock.
