Donna, I have an out building which is warm and dry and has power and heat (although it is never on) and store my books in boxes, in polythene.
Although, according to my husband the house is full of books and he can't walk across the floor without stubbing his toe on something, but they are my 'still to be listed' or 'looking them up as it is unusual' or 'I might read this before I sell it' piles.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Personally I blame my mother..she is compulsive about housework and always considered books to be untidy, all through my childhood I was in trouble for leaving nasty books lying around every where I went and I'm now rebelling.
I'm in my dining room at the moment, there is a partly full box of CDs on the table and two piles by my chair where I am sorting ready to list and store. Three piles of books again by the chair that I want to delist and take to a charity shop. A pile on the table waiting to go into storage and a dozen or so library books (not all mine) in a pile on the welsh dresser to be read. There are two book cases, all full and with more lying on top and by the side (personalbooks, not stock), and two large piles of magazines belonging to my DH.
I'm wondering whether AT is going to remind us about how she once had to use a box of books as a coffee table as she had no where to put them when she had guests arriving! That was after an auction when I came home with enough books to cover the whole of our living room floor, the idea was that as they were all in those handy banana boxes that they throw out at supermarkets I could throw a cloth over a stack of them and call it a 'table' - about 200 were scruffy German paperbacks too, I put those on freecycle and they went to a good home....0 -

Hi
Can anyone tell me how much having a dust jacket adds onto a book price? I have a rare book with no dustjacket and the only other 2 on amazon to compare have dj's, so how much less should I sell mine for?
Thanks

I bought 6 books today, for the total of £2.10, all listed on amazon and play now. But one of them is a Book Club Association copy of Tolkein's The Silmarillion, which i bought as part of a 3 for £1 offer and intend to read at some point. I also want to list it on amazon and play and GM, but it has no ISBN, is there any way of finding this out, does anyone know a site which lists this kind of thing?
And why does playtrade not find some the ISBNs even when you do have it!"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -

it really depends on a lot of variables, I sold a current bestsellers this week for £2 below other prices, still allowing me a fiver profit, that didn't have dust jackets but otherwise were in mint condition. I listed as acceptable stated in caps NO DUST Jacket and both sold within the week.
Though depending on who the other sellers are even if you listed as acceptable you may find if they use pricing software they will match your price. Personally I'd list at between 10 & 20% of their prices, unless I knew they price matched/undercut.Do You Twitter?

You aren't allowed to list BCA editions on amazon and I seriously doubt you are allowed to do so on Play. You will find lots of people doing so on amazon though but they do take a risk in doing so as the customer can (and do) claim that it is materially different to the actual listing.
You can sell BCA on GM though, some books are findable by using the CN number BCA use, otherwise you'll have to do a title search and find the correct listing.
As for playtrade, their catalogue of books is only a very small percent of actual books in existance. From what I have worked out it seems they have only very recently published titles, and their ISBN search seems to favour isbn13 and does not always find isbn10 even if products do exist in its catalogue.Do You Twitter?

Cheers, I didn't know that about the BCA books not being allowed on amazon and play, not that it matters cos i haven't listed it there. Usually i never touch BCA books, but i am interested in reading this one."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0
