How does feedback work on amazon?

I have sold and despatched about 10 books/cd's now, yet I am still down as a new seller as I have no feedback. When does the feedback happen?

    Thanks

Feedback on Amazon is hit and miss, despite selling several hundred books I think my total feedback score is actually only about 140 responses in total. After a few weeks the buyer does get a reminder from Amazon which prompts some into leving feedback, but the percentage overall is still quite low.

Hi everyone, sorry I'm sure this has probably been discussed before, what are your options for selling if a book isn't listed on Amazon? I've looked on bookfinder and it is listed there for around £14? Thanks!

    Tiresome problem here....

About a week ago I had an Amazon email warning me that the payment for a sale was pending. I'd had no notification that it had even sold. Checked the email - it told me the book, but not the person who'd attempted to buy it.

Last time this happened, the buyer never attempted to buy it again, so after a couple of days, I put it on sale again. Noticed my price wasn't so competitive any more, so I matched the lowest price (sigh)

At the weekend, I had a sold notification for it, followed by another for a different book. It was too late to post them on Saturday, so I left them ready to post this week when I was back at work.

Sunday: came the warning - the payment for this item remains pending.

I've emailled the buyer for this book, letting them know that there is a problem with the payment and I won't be despatching until Amazon tell me otherwise. But I'm starting to wonder what's going on.

    - Is the buyer a muppet?
    - Is it even the likely to be the same buyer? It's a fairly obscure book.. but there are plenty of copies available.
    - Is this an irritating attempt to eliminate the competition, by taking my book off the market?
    - Can I stop this happening for a third time, somehow?

I have a book called 'A Lad of Devon' by Mrs Henry Clarke and it is a first edition dated 1908. It lsn't listed on amazon or ebay and I wondered where I go about selling it?

    Many thanks

  • Phew got to the end of this wonderfu thread!!!!! Well, I too have decided to join you amazonian people, listed last night and have already sold one!!! Lots are quite heavy gardening referance books, I know I will lose out on postage but it will free up space in my house.

I am sure that I will hit many pitfalls, but here goes, and one day many moons ago, I can buy a 1967 Beetle!!!!

    Couple of questions,

    Do academci books sell well?

What hardbacks do well or should I stick to paperbooks?

    Thank you muchly

    Fay,

you say you relisted the pending book? Usually amazon actually do this though their pending email does indicate you have to do this yourself. This would have resulted in you having 2 copies available, though it is likely you had them on the same listing.

You also state that you had a sold notification for this followed by a pending, unless your email provider is delaying your emails the pending would have been for the 2nd copy (even though you don't actually have a second), sold notifications are NEVER revoked by amazon.

I'd urge you to check your recent transactions under the get paid heading. This will show that the payment for the first copy has cleared and is in your account. The second copy will show if you select to view pending orders, when it comes out of pending, usually after 72hours, delist it unless you have another copy!

Finally just a warning to other sellers - NEVER relist items you are informed have gone pending, even if amazons email states you should, they changed the process to automatically relist pendings a few months ago and have never updated the pending email!

Ok, so I think I understand. There have been 2 attempted sales, and one successful one. I should post to the one I received the notification for.

The email I initially received did actually tell me they would relist for me in three days - feeling annoyed that my book wasn't on sale anymore, I relisted it myself (it appeared in my open listings, but with a quantity of 0, so I changed it to 1) It now seems likely that Amazon did add another shortly afterwards, one of which was bought by a (or the same) muppet, and the other by a sensible, paying customer.

Thanks for the help, that's the last time I try to beat the system
