How do I find out the rank of a book?

    Thanks in advance.

Go the books page and in the details where it lists the ISBN etc you will see Amazon's book rank down at the bottom of that list

    Welcome to the thread!!!
  • its only words at the end of the day.....its not as though she smacked me across the face with a kipper....( yes i know i dont know why i said that ..but you know what i mean ..)

Slap me with a kipper anyday - but don't leave me negative/neutral feedback.

On the odd occasion when I have dropped from 100% I am convinced my sales suffer. I also price slightly high because of my good track record.

    not happy....

she left me 3 out of 10.. because i would not send the book out next day delivery... before she paid me for it....

she expected me to post out the book for next day delivery... and she was going to put a cheque in the post to me ....for the diff.....i have learned ...when it comes to money trust no one ....

oh well........it was bound to happen.. like ebay..... after having an unblemished feedback ... i get 2 twonks..... one left neg... and one left neutral... becuase they were confused.....

these things are sent to try us....

    Hi CTC,

what a bummer - have you consider leaving an answer to the feedback explaining you don't offer next day delivery so were unable to oblige or something like that but making it clear you post out however often you do? [IFSWIM]
At least you can put your side of the story and then move on

    Good luck

I,ve taken the good advice of this thread and emailed any customer ordering saying again that this is a used book and listing any faults with "just so you wont be disapointed" note. haven,t had any complaints yet, but then haven,t sold many. Still happy with it tho

I've lost my 100% cos a buyer who misread the description, changed her mind and cancelled the sale before I'd posted it, so had an immediate full refund, left 3/5 feedback. I responded with a simple polite statement, but I'm pretty sure it's affecting sales.

Have you tried contacting the buyer to see if they will remove the feedback? Explain that you are a small seller and that it affects your sales. It's hard to write something that's both friendly and persuasive, I have been lucky in the past to have buyer's remove feedback.

Do you know if they left the feedback in response to Amazon's feedback reminder (this now comes 21 days after the sale), because if they cancelled the sale and then got a reminder 3 weeks later that might explain their less than +ve feedback and they might be more likely to remove it for you as you didn't send the request. However, if they left if of their own volition then they are unlikely to remove it - never hurts to ask though.

    Good luck, FFM :)

Thanks FFM. Yes I emailed her in a friendly polite way, but heard nothing, and the feedback is still there. Hey ho!

NO sales since the 30th March! Where have I suddenly gone wrong? My feedbacks 100% had average sales of 3 a week which I was impressed with as I'm a relative newbie?
Bit dissapointed as my UNi fund isn't getting any bigger!

If you are just selling your own unwanted items, chances are your most saleable items have gone and it's just a matter of sitting it out for the remainder, unfortunately. Just take consolation that there are no listing fees so you aren't losing anything if the books don't sell. :o

Amazon also has peaks and troughs in terms of sales patterns so it may just be a quiet time for lots of sellers as well. Check through your listings and check that prices are still competitive (and still profitable bearing in mind current Royal Mail charges!)

Patience is the main skill/virtue needed with Amazon selling! ;)
  • Hi Nicci

I've scaled down my buying recently so my sales have also slowed. Although they seem to have picked up marginally in the last week. If you've got the time howabout listing on Play.com? I've had nearly 30 sales on there now out of an original upload of about 1500, so not too bad. If you list less than 100 it is free to list, there's a 50p closing fee, 10% of sale price in fees + an additional 5% if you want to take the money out of Play - but if you spend it on Play you don't lose the 5%.
