I think I guessed as much.
If I were to buy Jiffy Bags from EBay is there a "better" size for standard paperbacks and hardcovers? I have a mix of both but a quick look at EBay has left me more confused that before!
Thanks.
I use mail lite bags and the commonly used sizes I find are
C/0 thin paperbacks, cd's and single dvd's
D/1 thicker paperbacks (b format and a format over 400pages-ish), some smallish hardbacks.
F/3 Most hardback novels and A format paperbacks
G/4 Coffee table books & text books - sort of A4 in size, and if you tape in the edges they go as large letter:money: as long as they aren't too thick
Jiffy bags are usually more expensive and heavier, but their size is very similair, just a JL code followed by the mail lite number
Anything bigger gets a custom packaging of double layer of bubblewrap and cardboard wrapped in well taped brownpaper.Do You Twitter?

I really don't want to know what I have in my shed actually...several years ago in this part of the world we had a colony of spiders that were dangerous, red backed something or other bought in from fruit shipments overseas. We were warned in the local papers to watch for them as they could hurt a young child but we were all reassured that they would die as soon as weather got chilly. Since then I've stopped being so worried about normal British spiders, otherwise I'd never set foot down my shed again.
DH says I should be thankful for spiders in my shed as they don't eat books, but will eat insects that might hurt my books.
Anyway, back on topic...sold 3 books on Amazon and 7 on ebay over the weeked, so I've cleared a little space ready to buy more, hurrah!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have just listed a few books today and have sold three already :T
I don't have any jiffy bags so I have wrapped them in brown paper and put the packing slip inside the book..I have done a quick search but it seems most people use jiffy bags to post. Do you think brown paper will be secure enough or should I invest in some jiffy bags from Ebay?
Thanks!
I use bubble wrap from supermarket (wrapped around the fruit), no one seems to mine my taking a couple of sheets at a time, then I put them in a4 envelopes, folded as nec. Never had any problems and for me it seems to work out cheaper than jiffy bags.

How do you decide which books/ cd's etc to sell on ebay and which to sell on amazon?

By checking completed listings on ebay. If they are going for more on ebay and selling regularly they go on ebay, if not amazon.
The only exception to this is slower selling items that don't show in completed listings on ebay, but may sell better there with use of keywords in title and some nice pics.Do You Twitter?

Hi
I am really into this amazon lark!!
In terms of buying books, I have noticed on freecycle someone getting rid of some old books. I have never used freecycle before, but wondered if it is frowned on to get books off here and sell on?? Any views?

Most Freecycle groups have their own rules on reselling items. Some ban it all together - others ask that you let the 'giver' know that you will be reselling as some people don't mind.
It also depends on your own moral stance, I suppose.
I would also consider that the books given away are unlikely to be highly saleable (unless you are very lucky!) They are likely to be hardback Catherine Cooksons, Mills & boon and books of that nature.0 -
I have been selling my old books etc for over a year on Amazon, and have been doing okay, I often check my open listings to see if I have the lowest price within reason, I have just discovered that even though your listings show lowest price some of my books aren't actually the lowest priced books, so if you are trying to turn your books over quickly just check to see what price they are.no debts0

lowest price only shows if you are actualy the lowest pirce for that sub-condition.
ie. If you have listed as very good it will not take into account copies in other sub conditions, such as acceptable, good or like new.
Also checking your prices using open listings isn't a very good method. If you have the time to go into listings to compare you should take into account, condition, location and feedback of other copies listed as well as descriptions given.Do You Twitter?

Don't expect to make much money off books acquired this way! A lot of amazon sellers use freecycle to get rid of useless stock!
They usually will be old, including many pre-isbn paperbacks that are virtually worthless with no sales rank, old BCA edition hardbacks, and other stuff that you wouldn't even want to carboot!Do You Twitter?
