The misconception in thinking that this refers to your bank / credit card account. It refers to the Paypal account not the bank account.
Again from paypals T&C:
By sending payments through the Service or electing to add funds to your account, you authorise us to obtain funds on your behalf from your chosen funding source... We will complete your payment first by debiting your account balance, if any. If this is not sufficient to fund your payment fully, we will obtain the remaining e-money according to your instructions by debiting bank accounts that you have registered and explicitly allowed us to debit by completing the Direct Debit set-up, or by charging your primary card to the value of the e-money required to effect the payment. When you send a payment, you will not be able to withdraw that e-money or send the e-money to any other recipient unless and until the initial e-money transaction is charged back under applicable card scheme rules.:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -
I've never had to wait 7 days for a Paypal to bank download - usually 3-4 days, so could easily post within the time-scale required.
I just sold a fairly high value item for my sister, was sent day after paypal payment received, money transferred to my bank account initiated same day, took 9 working days to show in my bank account!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Again, this is not referring to when a chargeback is made. This refers, as it clearly states, to when you are sending a payment or adding funds to your account. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -

I'd recommend that you change bank then
Like I say, with Co-Op and Smile it seems to take more like 4-5 days at most on the whole. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -

Am with Nationwide! However even if I waited for payment to clear into my bank account before posting, my understanding is that they can do a chargeback from your Paypal account regardless of if the money is in your bank account. So kind of negates the waiting for "cleared into bank account" as it makes no difference. If they want their money back they can claim it!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Here's what happens if you refund (or chargeback) without enough funds:
Q. What if I use the Refund Payment link but I don't have the total amount available in my PayPal account?
A. When a refund is sent using the PayPal Refund Payment link, the funds to cover the refund amount are deducted from your PayPal balance. Any outstanding amount not covered by your PayPal balance is transferred from your confirmed bank account.
If the account balance is insufficient to cover the refund AND the account has a confirmed bank account on file:
The total amount of the refund will be taken from the primary confirmed bank account on file
The refund will list as Pending until the transfer of funds has cleared
If the account balance is insufficient to cover a refund and there is NOT a confirmed bank account on file:
An error message appears informing you that a refund cannot be issued at that time
Note: You may transfer funds from an existing currency balance to cover the insufficient balance and try again to submit the refund.
If a payment has an Uncleared status at the time the refund is initiated:
No funds will be debited from your account
Issuing a refund automatically cancels the outstanding payment:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -

Yes, well there is already an ongoing discussion about that here. I'm not sure why I am bothering to argue the point, since people obviously don't want to believe that Paypal can't take money out of someone's bank account without permission.
Nevertheless ... in response to susplum's last post, once again this does not refer to chargebacks. If you choose to issue a refund by clicking on their "Refund a payment" link then you are giving them an instruction that they can debit your account.
Trust me. They can't do it for a chargeback, because it's not legal for them to do it. They don't want to advertise this, and they are obviously more than happy for you to believe that they can do it. Seems to have worked. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -

Thanks I thought my feeble brain had got it wrong. So if a seller waits for the payment before sending it makes no odds. Best sending straight away to maintain good feedback.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Granted I may be wrong (as I originally said) but PP does state:
The receipt of funds in your account balance, unless charged back, shall discharge the sender from their payment obligation to you, up to the amount of the funds transferred by the sender.
Therefore as a seller you have no right to make a buyer wait until PP fulfils there duty to you with regards the transferring of funds.:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0
