Seller won't send untill paypal transfer money!!

Hi
Won item late wed night paid 1st thing thurs morn.
Got email last night from seller( i did not contact them) "Paypal are very slow at transferring money but item will be sent as soon as payment clears"
I double checked my PP acc and payment is completed!!!so i emailed back and told them this.
Next email i get is " Yes your payment has come through to me but not to my Bank acc"
Then i twigged that she is waiting for PP to transfer to her bank acc:mad:
This i know takes a good 5 working days.
Now i am in no real rush for this item (but could have been ,seller instruction states post within 2 days of recieving cleared payment) but feel really peed off!!
Am sure my buyers would not be happy if i did this.

Anyway is this allowed
Sorry for the waffle it is still early!!!

Paypal require goods to be sent within 7 days of payment, so it is likely your buyer will exceed that time frame if paypal are as slow as they are for me.

However, there is very little you can do about it except to leave fewer stars (new feedback system) for speed of posting, she won't know you've done that as the scores are cumulative but it will warn others. You could also start an item not received chargeback on day 7, but I can't see that achieving very much as your items will probably be with you in just over a week anyway.

I wouldn't mess around, just wait until it arrives and leave a factual negative.

This is unacceptable in my view and is saying to the buyer I don't trust you and want to cover myself against possible chargebacks or the alternative is I am not 100% sure about the product and don't want you trying to chargeback as "iten not as described".

Either way you are being taken for a bit of a ride.

Unless the item itself is faulty I think neutral rather than negative would be more appropriate.

The ironic thing is that waiting for the money to be transfered won't really get her anywhere in the long term. Unless she only has very rare transactions and is planning on toughing it out with pp if they do put her a/c into the -ve.

I don't see what the problem is. I certainly wouldn't post out any goods before a cheque or a bank transfer had cleared - would you? Money in a Paypal account isn't even really money - and it's only secure once it is cleared into a bank account.

You might choose to accept the risk of delivering something before you had received a cleared payment, but certainly not everyone is willing to take that risk.

As Soolin says, PP require goods to be posted within 7 days of payment - if you don't, you lose any seller protection you may have had, so withdrawing the money is meaningless.

If you don't trust PP, don't use it.

    Cheques technically never clear....

As said above, if I sell and take the money out, if someone makes a chargeback and someone else has paid beforehand, that balance will be withheld for the chargeback so maybe the seller hasn't thought things through?

So technically, it isn't safe when it's in your bank account if you continue to sell.

If I paid by PP I'd have a problem with a seller not sending for a week, I bet the seller didn't take bank transfer either?

The point is the unacceptable time delay.

As a seller as soon as someone pays me via PayPal then I post the item out, I have done this on items upto £2,500.

If I felt that all monies had to clear into my bank account it would be pointless trading on ebay as my feedback would soon reflect my poor customer service.

If I am unhappy about a buyer I do my own checks on them.

If you are at all nervous about this sort of thing selling on ebay is probably something that folk should not get involved in.

As for cheques I wait the required time to clear but to be honest I don't get many of them and of course the same applies to bank transfers, but the great thing with bank transfers is once you have the money in your account its yours (ok there is an argument you should wait 24 hours)
