Seller won't send untill paypal transfer money!!

I always thought that Paypal was classed as an immediately cleared payment method, (apart from echeques) isn't this why it is used ?
If you have to wait for a seller to have the money in their bank account, you may as well send them a cheque.
The money goes into my account, I post the item, end of story. When I chosse to withdraw the money to my bank is up to me at a moment that is convenient to me.
I would certainly avoid this seller in the future.
This is what I do too - the money is in the paypal account as soon as the buyer has paid.
I have a problem at the mo with echeques via paypal. 10 working days to clear!! 10 working days - I may aswell have had a normal bank cheque!
I am not having any more of those so they can forget it.
I have a problem with Sellers lately - you pay for an item on one day - they don't post it for another 7 days and then get uppitty because you have asked where item so-and-so is - only asking in the first place because you think that Royal Mail has lost it.
I am getting hacked-off with Ebay - everybody wants something for nothing - you just about have to give stuff away.0 -
There are certain expectations buying/selling on ebay and one of those is if you offer paypal then once you have received payment into paypal you have been paid, not when the money has gone from paypal to your bank account. If that is when the seller considers themselves paid they should not offer PP and offer bank transfer instead.
As has been mentioned before, there is already a requisite time limit for despatch if you're accepting payment by Paypal - 7 days. Again, your last sentence suggests that if people don't do things the way you prefer, they shouldn't be using Paypal - why not? Just because you don't like it?
For myself, I do offer bank transfers. And, in fact, I would much prefer that people used them as it would save me a lot of money. However most people aren't able to make bank transfers online - in fact, many people don't know how to do bank transfers at all!For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
And if they took seven days to post I would seriously consider leaving them a negative unless they offered an apology and a good excuse.
Good grief, well I hope you never buy from me! Not that I generally take 7 days to post, but I think that's a terrible reason for leaving a negative. Ebay isn't a shop, it's a forum where individuals can make an arrangement to buy and sell - and individuals will sometimes have other things to do than go running straight to the post office in the next 24 hours - I think it's unreasonable to expect that of everybody. I've waited nearly two months for a purchase recently, and I only left neutral feedback - because I did get the items I paid for (although I also disputed the description of "superb condition" ... ). Of course, you're free to leave a neg for whatever you like - but for 7 days postage seems highly excessive to me anyway.
I agree that if someone is going to wait for a Paypal payment to clear into their bank account before posting, they should state so in their auction.
However I do think that the only reason a lot of people don't wait for Paypal payments to get to their bank account is because they don't realise quite how unsafe their money is in Paypal, and have never experienced a false chargeback.
I hope none of you ever have to experience one, but if you're selling items up to £2,500 and posting out immediately it's by no means unlikely to happen to you at some point. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
If it were me, I would email the seller and state that she didn't put this in her auction and ask for a refund. That is ridiculous. I have never heard of anyone doing that with PayPal.0

I think you are deliberately misunderstanding me to suit your purpose.
It is quite simple:
money cleared into paypal = paid
If you want to transfer that money the buyer does not have to wait until it clears into your account.
I am NOT talking about the 7 day period. I AM talking about when people consider themselves paid.:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -
I don't misunderstand you at all. I just disagree with you. Money received in Paypal is completely unsafe and is at the whim of Paypal. It's no better than an uncleared cheque.
If I receive money in Paypal, I'm no more 'paid' than if I've received a cheque in the post. I might choose to post the goods anyway, but until it's actually cleared in my bank account the payment is decidedly unsafe - a cheque can easily be cancelled or bounce, and Paypal chargebacks can be done at the drop of a hat.
You consider yourself paid when the payment is in Paypal. I don't.For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
Paypal can still reverse money from your bank account even if you have transferred it...0

After you have initiated the transfer and before it is cleared, yes they can reverse it. After it is cleared they cannot - if they debit your account without your specific authority they are acting illegally, and your bank will cancel their debit at your request. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
Having removed the money from paypal does not prevent chargebacks. It just means your PP account goes into negative and they start asking for it back.
I maybe mistaken but I thought that PP's T&C that you agree to authorises the removal of funds from your bank account?:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -

Actually, as soon as the money is in your paypal account you can use it to spend on one of your own ebay or other purchases!
If a chargeback occurs it is because paypal consider you liable and this money can be taken from a paypal balance, your bank account registered to paypal or your credit card registered to paypal.
When my buyers have paid me the goods become theirs - I therefore have a duty of care to my buyer to post those goods asap - NOT 4/5/7 days later when they can be bothered to drag themselves to the Post Office.
That is being a shoddy Seller and I can and I have left negative feedback for this and I am well-prepared to do it again.0
