As if buying us some shopping wasn't enough, my inlaws are moving to a home they've owned for a long time, so they now have too much furniture for one house. They gave us three piece of solid wood furniture (our house is filled with flat pack stuff from when I got my first flat, so this is a real treat!) - a gorgeous art deco sideboard, a desk and an oak bookcase. Our family room now looks so homely. It's amazing the difference a few key pieces can make!October Grocery Challenge: £20.65/£150

someone gave me some flowers, a bottle of wine & some cakes - and it's not even my birthday
I passed the cakes on for the soup run. And, the flowers went to two people who need cheering-up more than me.
The wine is chilling in the fridge & I'm going to have a large glass of it tonight.0 -
My dad gave me a bag of apples from his tree and I gave my brother a chest of drawers.0

I'm downsizing, so have given away all sorts of random things recently - most unusual was 2 boxes of tampons, donated to a womens charity!
Gave my mum bacon, chicken kievs, and pastry from my freezer, croutons and 1 chocolate cream biscuit! lol
She gave 2 packets of crisps as no-one in her house likes salt & vinegar, & I love them.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

I know this thread has been going a while but I've only just come across it - it's heartwarming!
I have had a little extra cash so I given the in-laws the money to fix their car for it's MOT. They do a lot of running round for us and look after DS one day a week and don't take any money. I have given my sister new potatoes , tomatoes and salad stuff as I was going away and didn't want to waste it. She has given me 2 bottles of bubble bath, shower gel, 2 tubes of toothpaste and several packs of toothbrushes after she had her new bathroom fitted.
I gave my team at work some cakes, they give me a laugh .
I also gave my dad a holiday but it was with me, DH and DS so perhaps not much of one :rotfl:.
Tonight I have given DH leave to go out and get merry with his mates and roll in at daft o'clock!0 -
My mum gave us yet another box of washing powder (received gratefully as she does this every 2 or 3 months!), some posh sausages and some cooking sauces. Whenever I go round, she always goes through her cupboards asking if I want X, Y and Z. Don't know what I'd do without her.0
