Got some fresh figs left on an outside table the other day when I was out. Suspect it was my local sheep man, who often stops by for a cup of coffee, no doubt I'll find out soon. Always getting little presents from him and his lovely wife.
Also got a few pomegranates from a neighbour which I made into a syrup. (Grenadine).
Quite common here to be given loads of fruit when in season.
Few months ago, I was inundated with free lemons, think it was around 4 carrier bags in total. I actually declined any more as I was awash with them.
Made a load of stuff:-
Limoncello which is still "brewing" in a large container until I make the syrup and bottle it.
Lemon pickle (followed the recipe for an Indian lime pickle, so am hoping it will taste similar when ready).
Salted lemons. This is amazing stuff, and believe Moroccan. Made some last year, but have more than doubled the batch this year, so that I can give some away to friends who have asked what the secret ingredient was in some of my dishes.
Lemon curd. Most of this went to friends, as I didn't have enough room in the freezer, and although I like it, don't use it very often.
Limonata. A lovely refreshing drink in the hot summer months.
Couple of weeks ago, I got a whole load of red chillis. I pickled them, then was given another load. Found out that they could be popped straight into a bag in the freezer, and used from frozen, so that's where they are, as I didn't have time to do anything with them.
I always used to feel guilty when been given something here from any of the locals, as many of them where I live, don't have much. I don't any more, but take it with the graciousness it was given, and with much thanks. In return, they have the carobs from my trees, which is brilliant, because I will never use them. I make trays of sweet stuff, such as fudge, tablet, coconut ice....all that kind of stuff that I have never made for years because I don't eat it, but the Cypriots love. They especially love clootie dumpling and call it Scottish cake.0 -

I have given away my old bike that i didnt use to someone on freecycle, I gave my mum some homegrown tomatoes, carrots and swede.
My and my husband went to Ask a couple of months ago and got sat next to a lovely couple who were on holiday, we got chatting and at the end of the night when the bill came i paid with tescos vouchers and i had £10 left so i asked the waitress if i could give it to the couple next to me, she said yes so i gave it to them, they were very happy.
I also gave away some bright fabric that i had to a lady i know who is a textile teacher and was making halloween things with her class so i know that it will get used up.
I also made two seaside themed cushions for a lovely couple who have a holiday home where I live, we have got to know them over the past couple of years and its so nice to visit them when they come up. I have also made her a seaside theme shopping bag but i havent given her it yet.
We got given some beetroot (ours didnt grow) and my o/h made some beetroom pickle so we gave a jar of it back to the person who gave us the beetroot and also a jar to his sister. The same person has also just given us some apples so my o/h has just made some apple sauce mmm.
My MIL gave me some curling tongs which i was going to buy myself as i have grown my hair to a length where I can now curl it.

I've given my MIL a bottle of arnica gel, she had a fall and really bruised herself. She gave me a holiday brochure for next year
and a pretty cord pinafore for DD from a charity shop bargain hunt.
I haven't given it yet, but I have stashed a bottle of champagne in the cupboard at work (locked) for a colleague who turns 30 soon. My other colleagues each gave me a couple of quid towards it :TBossymoo

Someone on a road I walk every day has a box with a sign saying 'Free eating apples, help yourself' so I had one on the way home.
It made me so happy that il leave them a thank you note in the box next time to let them know its appreciated.
I think the whole idea of giving things as a thankyou for receiving or borrowing things is so lovely. :TSimplify and then Simplify some more!0
