I could get this PC back to near how it was when I bought it but realistically, processing power for burning DVD/video/music and photo editing isn't going to be anywhere near as much as the power of today's Pc's. Also, the motherboard of this PC could suddenly go and then it can't be replaced.

Indeed. The mobo could fail tomorrow. Or it might go on for years. Worst case, you have lost a couple of hours of your time doing a Factory Restore from the recovery partition and reinstalling some programs and data.

Buy one from the HP 20% off sale then. Perhaps the HP Pavilion p6-2235ea for £295.20

That's your interpretation, you did say you couldn't make your mind up.

However, you do repeatedly ask questions or post problems, in numerous threads, all about the same machine, never seem to takeany of the advice given, repeat the same random "but's"/"what if's", and rarely stay logged in long enough to follow answers up in a timely fashion, and often not at all.

The first time you asked the question was 18 months ago.. This thread alone has had 80 replies, and 3000 views, and nothing has progressed from the first post. There are many other threads about new machines around too if the answers don't suffice.

You haven't reinstalled windows, you haven't posted a hijackthis log, you haven't bought a new machine or psu - Is that ever likely to change?
