It's not the best, and if the machine doesn't work better when you have switched AV, you can easily switch back. When your commit charge is down to a third of what it is now, speed should improve noticeably, hopefully along with stability

if toolbars don't show up in add/remove, have a look in IE, manage add-ons and search providers

Do as much as you can, then post a new log and commit, straight after a reboot.

dowload avast asap then and instal it
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

    Some extra tips:-

avg and mcafee removal tools:- you'll need to run these to get the remnants of each off your system..

http://www.avg.com/gb-en/utilities.tpl-mcr8 You need the first one on the list

    http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331

Right-click on My Computer, then select Properties, Advanced, Performance, Settings, Advanced Tab, click to Change Virtual Memory. Set it for Custom size, and make it 2048MB min and max. Don't let windows manage it for you.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

The shields are on but the icon in the toolbar is saying "your system is unsecured" I have updated everything. I click on turn on shields and nothing happens. I also turn on virus protection in windows security center and again nothing happens. The status stays in off mode. Very confusing.
