Hi Chev, I know I felt really sorry for her, whilst also a little cross that she is so stubborn and always knows best. I'm going to panic all day today until I know she's arrived safe. It'll take me 2.5 hours at a steady pace but I'm going to leave earlier than planned so I can go and find her if necessary
I've written to Mr T again to beg them to reconsider. I think the problem is the difference in the amount of debt I have compared to that registered in his name. Unsecured debt like store, credit & catalogues was always done in my name and a lot of joint debt was written off when we took out the secured loan in 2007.
I just need H3llifax and H5BC to play ball really as they are such sizeable chunks and would make the picture look so much better.

Hi Granny, :hello:
Gosh, it sounds like time your Mum considered giving up driving, certainly long-distance! Sorry but if she's getting so confused about MOT renewal date, and the general direction she's supposed to be travelling in - then it's a fair bet that her reactions are also much slower than they should be!
When you do both get to the hotel, I hope you'll be able to mention this topic.. Think how terrible it would be if she caused an accident.
Must say am really impressed that you're managing to persuade your predators to accept F&F offers (even if they haven't all yet done so).
Keep pushing, gently eh? You'll get there!0 -
I agree Robin and both me and my sister have raised this topic with her. We try to pick her up when possible but she's just so stubborn.
She's always been a pretty poor driver, stopping in the middle of the road once to point out a bird to my DC in the back of the car, totally oblivious to the traffic around her. Considering they are now 32 & 25 this was obviously a while a go.
How she hasn't caused a serious accident I don't know but she just refuses to listen to reason. (She's had a fair few scrapes with posts, her house!!!, supermarket trolleys)
I refuse to go in the car with her, initially saying I preferred to drive but recently I've told her how poor her reactions are as kindness isn't going to stop her. Luckily at home she doesn't go far but it's still a worry.
No news from her yet so I don't even know if she's left home yet, but I'm going to head out as at least I can get there, worry and then send out the search party if she gets lost again. I will be frazzled by the time we meet up that's for sure xTargets

Oh dear Granny - your Mum's driving sounds worse and worse!
May I ask if she is over seventy? If so she needs a medical check every three years for her licence to remain valid.
Don't think you should ignore the problem, given that you and Sister both have concerns..
Good luck - hope you have a lovely relaxing break (despite worrying about Mum).0 -
Oh dear if she won't listen to reason then you may have to consider reporting Her to the GP or police even? She is a serious worry for you!

Hi Granny
This is SO worrying, because without a valid MOT her insurance was invalid, and driving whilst uninsured/without valid MOT are criminal offences.
Sorry to be so blunt, but she must be made to realise how devastating it could be if she had / caused an accident. How many times have other drivers had to take emergency action to avoid her?
Does she maintain her vehicle adequately (i.e. arrange for servicing/maintenance)? Tyres/oil/water/lights etc?
Hope your mother has turned up safely. This can't be good for your nerves.

Doesn't sound good with your mum. One of my friends had to take the car away from her dad, as they took his licence away (vision no good), but he was still 'just popping to the shops'. Taking the car away was the only answer in the end. Hopefully any problems will be picked up at a medical if she is over 70.I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks for the posts everyone
She arrived safe if not a little late and stressed. We had a long chat and she has agreed to seriously consider giving up driving, especially long distance. It turns out her car was MOt'd after all, she had looked at the old one in the car service book. She bought her car in Feb and the garage put a new 12 month MOT on it.
All I can do now is hope she listens to reason.
In other news, H5BC agreed to F&F for 2 of their debts at 21%, so I've just paid that and will be doing another signature update
:j
Mr T have written me a stroppy letter because I only paid them £1
L1nk agreed formally to £1pm
M&5 have asked for the balance despite agreeing to F&F
H3llifax haven't replied to my 2nd appeal
H5BC haven't replied to my reminder letter for their 3rd debt
Staying positive as most are going the way I want them. I had a lovely time away with mum. OH missed me terribly which was nice to come home to.
I stuck to my diet whilst away and have lost more weight. Official weigh day tomorrow
Hope all is well with any readers. I will try to catch up on your news tomorrow

Hi Granny
Thanks again for your help on the M&S F&F.......I am preparing for that one now in my F&F fund.
Congratulations on the F&F's with HSBC - you have some secret talent in getting these sorted (I guess its charm) and I hope I can do half as well as you when I get stuck in.
Fantastic news
