Hey Granny glad you are still plodding. I'd be tempted to confirm with any callers that in fact this call is definitely being recorded by them, can they please make sure of this fact. Then go on with And so who are you? Full name, for the recorded call please and then spell it out, reminding them this is being recorded by them and you will if necessary be using their recording in any future legal proceedings as evidence if the facts you have provided them with.
Usually puts the fear into them and makes them SUPER careful with being compliant!! Plus always always get them to confirm when they will get back to you with actions or answers. And say "that's on the recording too isn't it? Psychological warfare!

Great idea Missrlr, wish I'd used this earlier when bl00dy Mr T rang yet again. I spoke to him but goodness he was shirty. Acted like it was him that I owed money to. Talked over me, asked me a question and then when I gave him an answer told me he couldn't discuss that! Asked why they've accepted OHs F&F and not mine. Clearly different circumstances!!! !!!!!!, same house, shared finances, same reason for not being able to afford to repay. Finally got him to agree to £1pm for 6 months, after which time they want evidence of income & expenditure. Total t0sser if I'm honest. Told me I had no right to insist on written correspondence only, so letter of complaint will be sent tomorrow.

Just need H3llifax to acknowledge £1pm payments now and then I'm letting it settle down for 6 months. Will write to them again in May, when will have fingers crossed these 5 agree to F&F.

Had a lovely day with DGD2 today

Anyone would think it were their money personally that you were unable to pay back. They make me so angry  How dare they think they can talk to someone like that. I hope you have written a very strong worded complaint and that you have his name!!

Hope you are feeling well too? Glad to see you're spending time resting and doing things with the GC :)

    Hi Granny!

Sorry to hear about your experiences with Mr T! I don't have Mr. T in my 'portfolio' but I have heard a few naff things about them. Its a bit like me with NatWest to be honest. I have had some lovely, funny conversations with the ladies there. They don't put up with any nonsense but you get on.....a bit of humour.....do you know what I mean? Then out of the blue I get this t*t who is saving the bank single handedly whilst simultaneously making a bid for world domination and I'm left in a bad mood for the day :(

Its just people.....we like some and not others!

This thing about different F&F treatment for different people.....could it be (1) a different product (2) taken out at a different time (3) defaulted at a different time (4) different size of debt which falls into a different band? I believe they work from tables which advise the maximum loss they are willing to put up with and the banks will be much more 'on' this than DCA's. The computer says........etc. etc (puke:)!!)

You're doing great Granny - hope I can do half as well as you.

    Hi Verbatim, DF(w) & Brogden,

I was certainly out of sorts after talking to him. I told OH and he looked pretty annoyed. I also told him if, by any chance they ring again, to tell them to put it in writing. For now, to protect my sanity I'm not taking any more calls from them.

In response to the different treatment. OH & I both took out credit cards with them at the same time to buy things for our new home etc. we had similar balances on the cards when we defaulted, (in July 2011). We've been paying them the same amount since then so had similar balances to clear. We offered the same F&F rate.

The only difference between OH & I is

    1) OH still has a decent wage coming in - you think this would make them more likely to refuse his offer, as there's more chance they'll get their money from him than me.

    2) OH only has 1 other debt, which isn't defaulted, because of the way they run their agreement to pay plans. It also is with an unrelated predator. Whereas I have 4 other debts, 2 of which used to be linked to Mr T credit cards when they were RB5. - this is possibly why they've refused, as the others have too but it still seems nonsensical to me.

Not worrying about it though as they've agreed to £1pm for 6 months. Next review I'm going to just send a letter telling them my income is £205pm, i use £200pm for my essential living costs and have £5pm to split between my predators. At the same time I will re offer the F&F.

Just H3llifax and OHs 3gg to agree to low payments now and then I can relax about it all until next spring. I'm certainly in a better position now than I was 3 months ago and have written off a few debts with low settlements so all good.

In other news, I'm just 3lbs away from losing 2 stone. My target was 1 stone by the end of October, before I go and see the preassessment nurse again. Feeling proud of myself for sticking with it and looking forward to the appointment, when I should find out about the other op. (Going to suggest its in May, after Oz, so more time to drop more weight)

I know being off work is definitely helping to improve my health DF(w) x

Hope you are all having a good weekend x

Oh granny just be carful with the F&F offers in future, they may question where the money has come from (all of a sudden) and therefore why you didn't use this to pay more before instead of the low monthly amounts. I'd offer £5 and say that is the F&F settlement end of!

So so pleased for you with the weight loss, tremendous benefit for you not just physically but mentally too. Hope you continue in this positive manner.

I am having d!jà vu here DH under notice of redundancy AGAIN twice in 18 months I ask you! Glad to have sorted h3lifax before this one started but oh boy not much buffer, told him I would stick him on the corner and sell his body if necessary!
