Hi Granny, try not to let it get to you that they've said no. I think your option of letting them be passed to DCA's and keeping the money aside is a good one. Once they get to that stage I think they are happy to accept whatever you have (from what i've read around these boards).
You've Oz to look forward to and flights booked so I hope you have fun shopping for holiday clothes! xxMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Thanks both,
Missrlr I hope you get some sense out of Hellifax (as I know they are referred to around the boards) soon. I really wanted shot of them and the dreaded H5BC the most as they are my largest predators. If they had gone to plan I wouldn't have minded so much about the others. Anyway, all is not lost yet. Letters sent to Hellifax and Mr T today and still no no from H5BC or the other 4.
DF(w) - over the last month I have been on a very strict diet and am happy to announce that I have lost just over a stone. I'm planning on continuing with it for as long as I can and therefore will not be buying any new clothes for Oz until at least next January. I have clothes of many sizes in my wardrobes, (actually glad right now I hadn't done the clean out that I'd been promising myself for ages), so should be OK until I've lost at least 3 stone but as I'm hoping to lose 5 by Feb, will need clothes for Oz.

Hi Granny
Pity about the creditors - but you are trying - if you dont ask you may not get.
Great news on tickets being booked - something fab to look forward to and well done on the weight loss. I have started a strict diet this week - will weigh on Tues morning to see if any difference.0 -

3 more "no's" in the mail today, however all 3 have said they have reduced my payment to £1pm for 12 months.
One of them has also said, after a telephone discussion, that they will put my information before a manager to reconsider.
Just H5BC to respond now. I have to admit I'm not very hopeful about them but I think its because I've been paying them a decent amount each month for the last 3 years. If the payments are dropped to £1 per month for 12 months, they may be more amenable to accepting low offers.
OH asked me a little bit about debt today but while I was talking to him he glazed over and seem stressed so I stopped. I'm dealing with this myself as it causes less stress for both of us.

Just thought of a sweet little nugget of advice I got from DGD1 on Monday. She asked why she couldn't stay over and I explained I had to go to work early on Tuesday. She asked why and I said to earn money. She said why don't you get some off Grampa, to which I replied because he hasn't got any either. Her advice? Well when you go to work tomorrow, get lots of money and then you can stay home and play with me all day.
Oh right, is that all I have to do, ok, now where did work leave the combination to that magic money pot :rotfl:

:rotfl:Love it....reminds me when I started trying to tell my children why they couldn't have certain big things and my son, then about 9 so not so little, asked why I couldn't go to the cash machine and just get some like I always did. That was when I realised he had not understood that you have to put your own money in the bank before you can get it out!!!! he said "so the bank doesn't just give it to you when you need some...?":rotfl:Feb2014 Total unsecured debt £72,520>>01/06/16 £68166>01/02/17 £66,600=8.18%PAID

Hi And welcome :hello:
Bless, I remember having a similar conversation with one of my off-spring.
This earlier post has made me smile as DGD1 is now far too grown up, (all of 7.5), to come out with something like this. It's much more likely to be DGD2 who says it now as she's morphed into her sister recently.
I'm hoping to be debt free before it becomes DGS who is more likely to say these things and I'm reporting that DGD1 has got her first boyfriend :rotfl:

That sums up pretty much how I felt too Beanie :rotfl:
The one I spoke to today asked for 75%, I said I've offered you all I can afford. I explained the full situation, early retirement due to ill health, money coming from a relative!!
She then asked, other than a drop in income, what's gone wrong!! Once again I explained ill health, leading to serious drop in income, all of which was in my letter.
She told me to seek financial advice, I told her I had, she said oh well we really cannot accept that offer so you need to increase it. I said we are going around in circles here.
She said we will reduce your payments to £1pm and reconsider if any of your other creditors say yes. I said some already have. She then said she'd put it in front of her manager to reconsider. It really does make me wonder to be honest and I'm glad I've appealed to the others.
