    Thanks both x

Had my first phone call from a predator today, I have 2 debts with them. One accepted my 22% offer of resettlement! other want £90 more which is no hardship. So pleased I went in with such a low amount to start. £6k debt written off for <£1,500. Result. Let's hope the other 7 debts go the same way.

Thanks all, no further news yet but staying positive about it all.

Brizzle you must be living in my house somewhere! OH has never really stressed over our debt, he has absolutely no idea how much we owe and has refused to cut back in any way. I put my foot down in 2007 and said I could no longer afford to pay for nights out, holidays, luxuries of any kind really as I was trying to get us out of the situation we were in. A couple of years of robbing Peter to pay Paul ensued as I didn't cut back in the right places and then LBM proper kicked in in 2011.

OH still hasn't had his and buys what he wants when he wants, keeps all his overtime and bonuses but tbf does pay for holidays etc. We certainly haven't gone short for the last 3 years but I've struggled on my own, often having worrying nights when I can't see how I can manage. I've tried talking to him on many occasions but it's never the right time, rugby on, tired after/before work, etc etc.... He just hasn't wanted to share that burden.

Now I can see an end in sight. With just 1 predator accepting my offer it improves things greatly and I have money to meet higher demands if necessary. I will need to find another job but not just yet, I'm tackling my health & weight first.

OH is just continuing in his normal blinkered way, although I can see at times that he needs me to not be around. This is fine as I disappear upstairs out of his way. As I get fitter and healthier I will start going out more on my own so he can have the house to himself when he gets home.

The biggest bone of contention at the moment is Oz, he clearly resents me going, although is happy for me not to be around when the 6 nations rugby is on. He doesn't want to come out for a couple of weeks and has told me to go alone. I'm not allowing him to put a dampener on it as it's a dream of a lifetime and I will never again have such a chance.

OH is always moody, up & down is my point, the current situation has no bearing on that at all. I however can see the light at the end of the tunnel for the first time in my adult life.

Sorry for the long post, needed to get this out really

  • Fantastic Granny, So pleased that you've got shot of 2 predators so quickly! I really hope you hear back from the others very soon and that it's all good news :D

As for you DH, mine is the same, still has his head in the sand. I get on with it and just try to do the best I can without his help or support. Some people just aren't willing to change I guess!

Good for you for remaining positive about your trip too, if that were my hubby he'd be sulking in the hope that I got so annoyed I played the martyr and stayed at home....but like you i've just learned to carry on and stay upbeat regardless ;) best way really :p xxx
