Thanks both, I'm bored of feeling under the weather now, although I am a lot better than I was. I had very little sleep last night as I couldn't stop coughing and feel like I'm choking if I don't sit up. So I was not amused when someone decided to ring my house phone at 5.45am. They did not leave a message and had rung off by the time I got to the phone and there was no number on 1471. I worried for a bit, thinking maybe OH had had an accident on his way into work or something but he's fine. Whoever it was did not ring back.

However, at 10.45pm, having just gone to bed the phone rang again, same situation, no message, rung off by the time I got there and no number on 1471. Not amusing when you have no energy to climb the stairs more than once in an evening.

I'm feeling out of sorts at the moment and wonder if I'm being unreasonable but I have to get this off my chest. For the last 6 years my DM has asked me to accompany her on a week away in the UK. This has cost me money and time that I didn't really have to spare but I've gone so that she has had a holiday. Usually she pays for the week which only costs £100 or so and we share the food and weekly spends bill. I usually do the majority of the driving so pay for any petrol used. Last year when DD was due home I found a couple of breaks for the 3 of us and suggested we went away together. DM said she couldn't afford it but then shortly after paid for a week away for her and my Oldest sister for this week, costing about the same as the week I'd found would have cost. I've tried not to be annoyed by this and know that DOS hasn't had a holiday in years and perhaps DM thinks she's in need. However, I am feeling quite used and pushed to one side yet again. I know DM thinks OH and I go away too often, she has said as much recently but I have explained that it is not my choice. I'm feeling quite childish minding about this as I certainly don't need, want or desire to go on holiday with her as she usually comes out with something to offend but it's been bugging me all week. Today my DOS posted some scenery shots on FB and I found myself being really agitated by them. I'm not well enough to have gone away anyway and would have been upset if I'd spoilt it for her. When I spoke to DM on Sunday she didn't even know if DOS was going to turn up due to the bad weather. As I've said I understand her reasons for inviting DOS but can't help feeling upset, (probably partly due to being under the weather). I don't want to say anything to her as there really is no point as she is, (as I've said before) quite self-minded and would think I was making a fuss over nothing. So I decided to post it on here instead to get it out of my head.

Today has been yet another nsd, not hard really when you don't go out and aren't up to surfing online.

Can't believe there is only one day of January left.

    Night all

It's payday today and I was slightly worried that they would try to recover the £12,000 that they didn't overpay me last month. Having checked my bank account I can see that they have sorted themselves out and have paid me correctly. Once my DD and SO for the month are paid, mostly in the next couple of days I have about £100 to last me the month for anything else, eg petrol, odd bits of shopping etc. Going to be another lean month if I truly am going to get out of the using my o/d habit.

  • I don't think you are being unreasonable about your DM granny. I think it's another way of putting herself first and whilst I agree there is no point making a fuss over it, it might serve as a 'get out of jail free card'. You said yourself that you only really go so that your DM has a holiday, well now she has had one and she wont miss out by you saying no to going away with her this year. If she says anything to the contrary, point out that you offered to go somewhere with her and DD but she declined and then she has been away with DOS, so it's not your fault that you can't get time off work etc when she wants to go.

Yes she may be paying, but at least it's DOS putting up with her not you! Xx

Thanks Lucky you have made me feel so much better as usual. Nothing much to report today, OH worked a double shift so I've had a quiet day on my own. Spent the morning in bed still recuperating, but I feel remarkably better today and the afternoon on the sofa watching tv and knitting. I haven't eaten much today so know I'm still not 100% but imagine I'll be well enough to go to work next week.

Final nsd of the month, making a total of 23 this month but tbh it's been easy as I've hardly been out for 2 weeks and had very little spare cash anyway. Hoping for at least 15 next month too.

Off to bed now, hoping I sleep tonight, my cough seems to have eased off a bit today so fingers crossed. OH is working Sat morning so I imagine he'll go shopping on his way home tomorrow, which will save me the strain. Meant to ask him to buy stuff for curry for tea if he goes but I'm sure he'll think of something nice anyway. Perhaps we can have curry Sunday night instead if not tomorrow.

Night all, it's Friday tomorrow already
