You are all so lovely, I love logging into here and seeing your kind messages of support.
I'm also glad that you all seem to understand the situation with my mum so well. Its hard talking so openly because despite her faults I love her dearly, which is probably why her comments hurt so much. However, like you PG, I'm the one who does the most for her, including going away on holiday with her for a week every year and ensuring we spend some weekends together too. I was also the one that gave her the most moral support when she decided to leave my dad, after 50 years of being unhappy. Hardly surprising they are both odd after living in their loveless marriage for so long. I too have learnt from their mistakes though and ensure my two DC and DGDs know they are very much loved and liked by me.
I've had a lovely day making finger puppets with DGD1 and reading stories. She gave me such a lovely hug and smile when she saw me.
DGD2 is not well at the moment, so wouldn't come for a cuddle but she cried when I left her house, so I think she'd decided she wanted to come too as long as mammy came as well. Have to see how she is tomorrow before we decide whether she wants to come and play.
She loved her t-shirts, one of which said "Granny's Lucky Irish Charm" and hugged them when she took them out of the bag.
DGD1 loved the Irish costume china doll I got her and her t-shirt. Plus they all thought the Irish odd socks were funny, so money very well spent and meant so much more to me than a bit of tat from the museum. I'll store those memories for so much longer.
Still in love with my hair, although initially thought OH didn't like it. Asked him today, as all he said yesterday was its a different colour! He said today he thought it was very nice. Found out today he had his bank statement yesterday and was gutted to realise he may just go into the red before the end of the month. Ha, I've been living constantly in the red for years. He seems to think his bank account is a magic porridge pot that never empties, despite paying for insurance, tax and MOT for his car and 2 holidays this month. Still had enough to buy beer in Mr T's though, because its on special offer!!!
Anyway, NSD again today, so that's 3 this month. Should have a couple more this week but going out with work on Friday so got to try to keep cost down there. OH is coming into town to meet me after food so should be ok.
Oh well, off to bed now as goodness knows what time the little madam will have me up tomorrow. So looking forward to being woken up with a pretty smiley face and Granny hug though.
Thanks again all for your kind words

Ooh finger puppets and Granny Hugs, sound the best ! I loved making those with my girls and the wooden spoon dollies with the happy and sad faces ! I am so glad they loved their pressies and hope the little one is feeling much better soon.
I agree its so lovely to have the support on here which is why I have missed it so much the last few weeks, and like you dear Granny, I love my mum dearly regardless of her silly comments. I sometimes think she doesnt even realise she is doing or saying these things !!
Your reference to the Magic Porridge Pot made me laugh. I found the old Ladybird book I had of the story when I was a little girl the other day with my name proudly written in pencil at the front ! I loved that story !
I hope you dont get woken too early x

I always kinda hope my mum doesn't realise how much the things she says hurts as that would make it all the more hurtful really. She often tells me that I'm the one she gets on with the best and maybe she compensates for that by being the way she is. The others are very argumentative so probably tell her off if she says something they don't like, although I try too when its not too hurtful. I once tried to tell her about the way she treats her DGC but she just shrugged it off and said "that's the joy of being a Granny, you get to have favourites" I was pretty astounded I have to say.PinotGrigio41 wrote: »Your reference to the Magic Porridge Pot made me laugh. Oh books from my childhood, I love finding those. DGD1 has got my Grimms Fairy tale book, lovingly inscribed with my childish scrawl, aged 6.
My favourite books were: Gobolino the witch's cat - which I've never been able to source to read to her.
Followed closely by the magic wishing chair and faraway tree series. Both of which I'll read to her when she's a bit older. We're currently reading The Rainbow Fairies series.
DGD2 loves - Each Peach Pear Plum and will sit on my lap for ages with it. Such happy memories.PinotGrigio41 wrote: »I hope you dont get woken too early x
6.30 felt pretty early this morning, especially after 10 days off work getting up late. My own silly fault because I didn't go to bed when I said I would and lurked around the MSE DFDs instead. Naughty Granny.

I really am tired and have to get up for work tomorrow but as I'm trying to do daily posts at the mo, to keep me on track, quickish update.
Had a NSD after all today, signature updated accordingly.
Didn't plan to have one as I had a make-up consultation booked and although I had no intention of buying make-up thought I'd end up spending somehow.
Got DGD1 to help me take some 5ps out of our change jar as its so full now it won't take any more and stopped when we removed £5, which was to be her spending money when we went out.
However she wanted to play puppet show, with our finger puppets and then wanted to check her monsters and gnomes on FB games. I've created a page for her to use in my house and we play some of the games together. She is really good on the computer.
Then she wanted to play Virtual Villagers, to see how her "people were getting on". She's funny with that as she wants me to play it, whilst she watches and gets so excited when she sees an item you can pick up.
We did that for an hour in total, I don't let her stay on the computer any longer and then we got dressed, brushed our hair and had some elevenses but at 9 because we were up so early.
We read for a bit and then played Monopoly before ringing to see how her sister was. No answer from their house so we played games some more and had lunch at 12.30.
They rang back at 1 and came over at 2 for a few hours. DGD2 still not well but happy to cuddle for a bit and happy growling at OH when he came home. She's only just started playing with him and wanted his attention constantly today, which she does by growling at him. When asked what he does or where he is she looks around and then emits a growl, which is such a funny sight.
We were both shattered by the time they went, so I left OH watching Euro 2012 and went upstairs to read. Instead I fell asleep and missed my tea. Had a chicken sandwich and milkshake at 9.30pm.
Now I'm back in bed, about to go to sleep.
Only other news today was I received a cleanser in the post from a competition I didn't even realise I'd won. £5.50 worth, so happy with that. Oh and DS sorted out my Btfon account, so now I should be able to use it when out and about. He uses it too and it saves him a fortune, naughty I know but I pay enough for the blooming thing.
Anyway, hope to have a NSD tomorrow, lunch made ready and working all day, first day back so will be busy I imagine.

That's ok honey, I know how busy you are at the moment. I pop in regularly but usually under cover of darkness and in disguise, just in case you try to sell me on fleabay or some such site. Not that'd you'd get much for me by the way, well not unless you were getting paid by the 1lb, where you'd be minting it in :rotfl:Sounds like you had a wonderful time with the GDDs, no money on earth can buy you that.

I did have a great time with them as always. As I've said before I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up but now I do. I was put on this planet to be a Granny. :T
NSD foiled today as sponsored my boss's wife for charity run and contributed to leaving gifts for 2 colleagues. Still fairly LSD and definite NSD tomorrow and probably Thursday too.
Work was very busy and I've had a banging headache all day, which I initially put down to caffeine withdrawals but after 2 very strong black coffees and still no let up, realised its something else. It's so bad I feel sick and have had to resort to the painkillers that I usually take when my back is bad. I just hope that I haven't caught whatever bug DGD2 has got as I can't really afford the time off work this week. Still ensured I dealt with all the urgent stuff just in case.
Off to bed in a minute, to see if I can sleep it off but wanted to do a quick update. After all, its my 1 month diary anniversary today :jTargets

Only a month granny? in the nicest possible way I feel that I've known you a lot longer than that.
I hope the headache clears, drink some water, that normally helps flush out any nastiness and try to get a good nights sleep.

Thanks Piq, I feel that way too. I've told you things that I've never even told people I've known for years. I find it so easy to be myself and not feel judged on this site.
Headache is better today but still there, took your advice and drank lots of water. Had to take tablets again today though.
Still it is definitely better than it was.
